Usually takes several days. This is normal.
There is a Google FAQ on this site which details all that is important about the mighty google. You should read it, it answers most of the questions that are asked about google.

AthlonInside, these might help fill in some gaps about updates:

I hope this question hasn't been answered before, I searched the site and couldn't find it. I have a relatively new site that was the 6th listing for it's primary keyword last night. (I'm using a mac so I can't check the actual PR with the toolbar) I searched for it on plain old www.google.com. This morning it didn't show up. So, I tried www1, www2, and www3. It showed up on 2, and 3, but not 1. Does anyone have any ideas why this is?

Thank you in advance.

I wouldn't worry about it, Kris.

I'm sure most people will agree that you are best waiting until the "update" has finished, and things have began to settle.

If you are not on www in a weeks time, its worth asking the q again, or maybe waiting until the next update incase their was a hiccup last time round with your site.

Thanks... I honestly didn't even realize that the update was not done yet. This place really amazes me, i'm used to asking a question during the week and having it answered within 30 minutes, but on the weekend.
Thank you all.

I've been engrossed in this forum ever since I found it for the last few weeks. I read it voraciously. Is this an accurate description.

Now that the Update is done, my website won't gain or lose ground when searched upon by a particular page. My website will be spidered and indexed heavily in the next 3-4 weeks, and then the new Google index will be populated (the Update)to Google's servers, and I could move up or down?

Thanks for all the information.

Hi BDStreet

Not sure that the update has ended yet.

But once the update has been completed you rankings are unlikely to change much until the next update.

However with the Freshbot you may either get pushed down slightly in the rankings as Fresh Results come above you - or even better if you are found by Fresh bot you may go up :)

I'm glad you like it here superkid. :-)

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, bdstreet and Happy Online.

I agree with Happy Online, the Fresh results/Everflux will cause changes throughout the month. See lazerzubb's Deepbot and Freshbot FAQ [webmasterworld.com], Marcia's Everflux thread [webmasterworld.com], GoogleGuy Explains Everflux [webmasterworld.com] and my Google Fresh Listings [webmasterworld.com] thread.

Backlinks and PageRank should stay until the next update.
