It's a snapshot of the page taken as our search engine partner crawled the web."Sounds like they don't want to specify whether it was crawled by slurp or FAST.
It seems like they have caught up (almost) to google but..
I have a feeling the recent changes google has gone through were preparing the infrastructure for the future. Its like they're at the same point on the race track, but Google is just left the pit stop, and Y! just pulled in. There's room for them both anyway. It's when number three jumps into the mix that things will get interesting.
and now all my yahoo.com rankings are stuffed. time t start again!
Ink optimization has never been a top priority. Can anyone point me to a good resource for Optimizing for Ink?
Everything seems to be in place but we must be missing something.

Google currently shows 450, AltaVista 950, Inktomi 70, FAST 70.
The only way they could be showing 200 pages for me is if they are using some AV or G result, right? Unless I missed something.
Overall I like the results, but crawl depth is not as good as Google.
Two of my sites are over 20K pages, and Google had them all - not so with Yahink. Having said that, I have few more of the 2-word traffic phrases in the top 5.
I am just happy to be putting eggs into more baskets now.
The only bad part is slow indexing though, the new pages are indexed slower than by Google.
However, there are discrepencies in their index, really good sites just aren't ranking as well as they should and there are way too many directories ranking high.
But this will all be smoothed out over time, for now I'm enjoying the fact that there is now a real competitor to Google!
I finally got the number one listing on a major SE for the major keywords in my niche that is also my domain name.
same here, jranes. i was so happy about my first #1 i couldn't wait to tell my family.
after getting beaten up by google the last two (crummy) updates it's nice to finally see good, basic SEO tactics like brett teaches being rewarded with high listings.
As part of the company's next steps in customization and personalization, Yahoo! is introducing a new search service that integrates Yahoo! Search with My Yahoo! by adding links to XML/RSS site syndication content in search results. This service enables users to search for millions of sites that support this format and easily add them to their My Yahoo! personal homepage. Once added to their page, users will see instantly updated headlines and links from these sites, keeping them in touch with all of their important information from the Internet in a single place.
Commonly referred to as a comparative advantage.
I've been seeing some fluctuations with the Y! layout. There is the traditional blue links with a 14pt font for the SERPs. The new layout has all the SERPs with gray links in a 12pt font and all sponsored listings with blue links. SERPs for the new layout appear under the fold. It is interesting that there is a huge empty area on the right side of the sponsored listings for the new layout. Looks like Y! is really trying to pump those sponsored listings. There appears to be a small discrepancy in the SERPs between the two, but as I can see so far, nothing major.
It will be interesting to see the activity in the Google forum vs. the Y! forum here on Webmaster World in the next few weeks. Let's see what the consensus says is more important.
Right now total messages in Google forum is 281,927 vs Y! forum with 34,109.
I have about 10 or more sites out of the first 20 results.
Unbelievable. As there very high profile search terms. These sites are no where in other search engines I stopped promoting half the site a year or two ago. There really not very good either. But I wont be complaining my traffic has gone crazy.
:)
When doing inurl:spamdomain.com I looked for a domain that I know spams and I got this result:
drs.yahoo.com/S=11111657/K=keyword1+keyword2/v=2/l=WS1/R=8/NW=1/H=0/%2A-http://spamdomain.com/
To me it looks like this domain has been reported for spam for keyword1+keyword2 and baned for that reason. The cached button doesn´t work. What do you think?
When we try to measure relevance of search results as a group there can never be a general overall concensus as we all have our own best interests at heart.
One way to measure the good from the bad on a general level is to compare Yahoo results with MSN, Tehoma, Altavista, Google and ATW.
When I try this approach I see most of the same sites on all engines, but a completely different set on Google......so either Google has it more right than anyone else, or Google has it totally wrong.
I see Brin said they have made major changes in the last two weeks. I don't see them today.....but I live in hope that they will come back into the mainstream of relevance!
Meanwhile....Good on Yahoo for ditching Google. It was long overdue and very welcome :)
