I checked with a few of my freinds and it seems this is not the same for everyone as yet. Maybe this is the start of the big switch?
I am in the UK but using www.yahoo.com
Ewan
I get Yahoogle, with one very strange exception:
destination + hotel searches.
The disturbing thing here is, Yahoo returns the same serps for
destination + hotel
as for
destination + hotels
And those results are the same as Google serps for the plural
destination + hotels
If you aren't seeing literally straight Ink, my guess is that you are seeing one of the experiments.
The title in the SERPs is the title of the page from from the Yahoo! directory category the page is in, not the HTML title of the page itself.
[search.yahoo.com...]
I have just search Yahoo for the same keywords 10 times one after the other.
The results are different everytime. On one occassion the the new PPC from overture didn't showup however the rest of the time they did.
The results also changed from recent google to old google. I can't see that they are INK results.
One thing is for sure I am well ranked in Yahoo and they don't bring me much.
From the UK, Yahoo.com is still Google for me.
For yahoo.co.uk web results on one keyword, I see two uk sites that do well in google at 7 and 13. (I know these are UK sites, and that they are registered, hosted etc over here)
For UK only results, there is one at 9.(was at 7 in the full web results, go figure that).
The one that has dropped out, was a dot.com. Pretty basic geotargeting if you ask me.
Then, at 15, is a site that is a mirror of the dot.com mentioned above, (on a a dot.co.uk domain). However, this is a "backup", has no links into it, and was submitted about 3 years ago when the domain was being used for something else.
Meanwhile some of the top slots are taken by sites in the 50s when UK only is not selected.
trying to work out what this means is difficult, but how about:
95% of the algo is "on page" criteria. (I think link text is still important on page here folks)
Uk results must show a dot.co.uk. (any other proof?)
Different algos for full web results, and uk only results, hence the jump backwards.
Oh, and I chose this phrase and sites because:
all serps are different, but these sites are well placed elsewhere:
top of google.co.uk serps, top few on google.com
top in ink pure search,
sites listed in DMOZ
listed in yahoo
top on hotbot.co.uk (pure search)
about 8 on hotbot.com
etc
Any thoughts?
