Yahoo.com Using Inktomi

Goodbye Google...Hello Inktomi?

I just did a search on Yahoo! and got my results returned by Inktomi instead of Google. I did a few more and most of the searches are returning pure Inktomi results, but without clustering. Their is also no cached link.

I checked with a few of my freinds and it seems this is not the same for everyone as yet. Maybe this is the start of the big switch?

I am in the UK but using www.yahoo.com

I shall use this link to check. At the expense of sounding silly, why would results in Google and Yahoo differ?

It could also be that Yahoo is using an old Google database.

right now, at least, yahoo is showing serps drawn from the inktomi database and not from google. i hope this is the real thing and not just beta testing.

nope, the same as before, no significant sign to see G serps have been replaced by inks worldwidely.

Nope, still Google.

Face it folks, Yahoo is doing isolated tests. Nothing to see here, move along...

Wouldn't it make more sense to build Ink into a competitive SE first? Are they crazy?

Marcia and several others have had Ink served (well actually a variant of it) for quite a few days now. It could be something they are extending, slowly but surely. Well worth keeping an eye on.

And I never thought I would actually be pleased to see the change! Times change.

Still Google here (portugal)

I don't think they would be ready just yet to drop G entirely.

In southern california, serps over last 36 hours are all from inktomi (I cleared cache and cookies as mentioned above--no difference). Happy holidays everyone.

Right now would be the perfect time for Yahoo to switch to Ink. With the results from G bad and getting worse, is there a better time?
Do the Yahoo directory results have anything to do with Ink? how are those ranked?

Happy Thanksgiving

I haven't kept on on Yahoo lately, but when is the last
possible date that Yahoo can provide Google results. I
know the contract has not been renewed with Google, but
when is the termination date of the Yahoo/Google contract?

I am in So Cal also and have not seen any Ink results in the last 10 days. I only see the same Yahoo/Google mix.

I'm in Kenucky and I have not seen anything but Google on Yahoo.

I do however wonder if Yahoo's directory is being used in the results. The reason I ask is most of my listings show that directory address under my title and description when my website gets listed in a search. I'm using the regular search.

Could I be getting Ink results but Yahoo is use their directory listings first then listing Ink after? Like what MSN.com does when they show Overture then LookSmart and then Ink. Could this be what Yahoo is doing?

I think it could go either way, but my gut feeling tells me they're not doing what MSN does with Overture and LookSmart. Yahoo makes a nice income with Yahoo Directory (Yahoo Express), but I'm pretty sure they'd make much more money charging the Ink partners/advertisers (whatever you want to call them) a CPC.

I am seeing only Google results from Canada "BUT" my logs are showing yahoo hits that could ONLY come from Inktomi as that last Google Florida screw up has given these sites the boot and they only show on Inktomi now for the searches... something should be changing soon I think! (I hope)

Yea baby! I applaud Yahoo's move. Google is broke and going down with the crappy SERPS they have been showing all of us recently. Good job yahoo
