Expected? lol.. if you new what you were doing you would know
Great to see a PR update, but what effect has it had on all your positions? PR seems to have little to do with positioning these days.
PR or or on page content for that matter.
My 2 cents is that IMO we haven't seen the effects of this PR update on the SERPS yet.
I had lots of new pages show PR for the first time today on several websites.
None of these pages are anywhere in the SERPS even when I search for the complete 5 or 6 word page Titles.
What come first the chicken or the egg.
Science says the chicken... or was it the egg?
G toolegg mated with g serps, but me thinks incubation periods vary depending in variation of species.
too true, but the sellers are laughing all the way to the bank.
The buyers will be twitching in two months time if their pr9 link they bought for $$$$ dont transfer.
My guess it won't in two-months, but it will probably show in 4-months providing the link is in place at correct times, timing is the key when to buy -;)
Do I go again and risk another $$$$...jeez, lol
So they buy, no increase in the serps...jeez do i go again
Mfishy, too true about PR. Everyone that isn't in those 3 categories can be heard raving "who cares, it's just green..." The best thing I can say is that if you're not in those 3 categories you might as well not even worry about threads like these. The true pagerank your page is being ranked based on can change daily!
It's crazy that about 2/5 posts are people asking if there was or will be an update now (hasn't the rolling serps been noticed more widely?), why there ranking hasn't changed because they now have PR, etc.
Who would have known that google's green would ever cause so much frantic chit chat?
Seems PR snapshot was taken sometime before 09/23/04 (that's our most recent one showing PR).
WOULD THERE BE ANY EFFECT OF THIS PR UPADATE ON SERP AT ALL?
SERPs are updated continuously and so does one would suspect the algorithm PR. Its just that Google decided to make the PR visible publicly, at a time they thought convenient. So IMHO, this toolbar PR (whatever extent it is representative of the actual algo PR), follows the SERPs.
Best Wishes

I'm seeing the same on a domain we've had for some time but recently upgraded and seem to have some sort of penalty (duplicate?) on them now. Both versions ARE indexed. The domain.com version has no description and a PR0 while the www.domain.com version has only a PR4 (previously PR6). How CAN you make sure they combine or only one is listed? Does it matter? Do I need to set the DNS record of domain.com to always resolve to www.domain.com? I notice most other people (competitors) aren't doing this and they seem to have no problem with this.
So eventually PR update would impact SERP in short period (if backlinks still is a major factor).
let's be more intelligent about this. Google do what they want. Brin and Page are probably out at a restaurant drinking fine New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc as we speak. It's the real world! Updates and sub-updates will be assymetric - don't think 'Google' is perfect.
In my view G has been continuously updating PR over the last 4 months or so (this is well coroborated by websites' performance) and the SERPS have corresponded accordingly. Whether the green bar on your screen has changed is a whole different question. I once again raise the question (any in a more aggressive format) - is anyone able to prove that pagerank has been an a majorly influential factor in Google SERPS positions in the last 6 months?
(By the way - don't be petty - I mean major, I mean if your website has moved from PR X to PR X+1 you have moved up to the top of some major porn keyword etc)
Jeez, that is plain stupid anyone knows eggs don't smoke, they boil or fry -;)..err unless you mean the chicken, then they roast best.
Out side of adding pages the new links I have picked up in the last month were 6s & 7s. Am careful what links I add.
Can someone refer a post or other sound document on the proper way to set up links that makes google happy? The site still has first and top page rankings across the search engines but starting to lose a little ground to new competition.
Thanks
We too have lost pagerank from 5 to 4 , our positions have actually increased - pr dont mean that much now anyway.
What can also happen when your pr drops is that your pagerank is actually being spread throughout your site, this is much better in my opinion as you will receive a steady stream of traffic to those pages and not just your homepage.
