I have a small site, home page pr is 3 but the only other page (link resource page) pr = 4

how could this be possible?
no other links to the internal pr4 page except from home page.

I have a similar case, subpage with a PR higher than the homepage. Some eroor in the google algo, I guess.

I was just talking with my business partner today about just that today (before i read your post- but it was just a theory) But it's nice to know someone out there thinks that same way i do about what's happinin' with G.

I posted a new thread but its under review my page rank has been up dated again soemthing going on I checked with future pagerank and PROG and on some of my sites PR has gone up again?

I'm seeing some odd stuff on the future pagerank tool. For my home page, which has been PR6 for years, I'm showing on one server a pagerank of 3. For one my internal pages that has been PR6 for years, and at times even a PR7, it is showing a PR3 on one server, and one time showed a PR4 on one server.

This site took a big hit in the Sept 23rd changes. I made some changes to clean things up (the main thing I'm guessing my penalty is from is for running amazon product feed - but that's a big guess at this time), but this could be much uglier than I had first thought. I have a lot of quality, on topic, incoming links from established sites that have been present for years. Something is very odd. Right now I'm just going to assume there are some problems with some of the PR numbers showing from some servers (keeping fingers crossed).

I also took a hit on the 23rd of sept, traffic halved....Site's home page is PR6, with hundreds of on topic incomming links, including listings in yahoo directory and DMoz. The site is pure informational, no outgoing affiliate links. Had remained steady in the google serps (numerous #1 rankings on tech related keywords) for over a year.

For most of of my front page main terms I've held position, but for dozens of little keyword combos on sub pages (that brought in about 15,000 unique visitors a month) I've dropped back from #1 to 40-50. Ahead of me now are pages/and or sites with heavy keyword repetition, mostly Pr 0 or PR 1 pages.

Hoping I just have to be patient and ride this one out.

IMHO waiting it out won't solve your problem. PR has little to so with serps. Your statement "Ahead of me now are pages/and or sites with heavy keyword repetition, mostly Pr 0 or PR 1 pages" demonstrates that. Sounds as if these other pages are doing something that Google likes.

I have seen exactly the opposite - pages with only one keyword ranking and that keyword sometimes buried at the bottom of a huge page of totally unrelated subject content. ie. a search for "red widgets" bringing up a #1 page that talks about a trek through the Amazon and at the bottom it says and Mr. so and so was wearing a "red widget on his belt" - don't laugh it's exactly what I saw!

HarryM I agree with your comment concerning page rank. I've been beefing up the backlinks to this site the last couple of weeks, and adding a little fresh content. Other than that I see no reason to hit the panic button. I'm not linking to any bad neighbourhoods, just a pleasant clean site that you could take home to your mum.

Aside from a h1 tag and duplicate content product specifications found in dozens of other places, the pages above me have almost zero content with links out to ebay or other affilate links. The sites in question though are huge with thousands of pages indexed. So I'm thinking these sites could be above me because they have more weight behind their internal backlinks to the sub pages. Or perhaps I don't have enough deep links into the site. Or my keyword density isn't high enough....The guess work goes on and on.

I did hear that a lot of folks slammed late august came back on the 23rd of sept so perhaps this is just an algo tweak, that will be re-tweaked again soon.

one can only hope......I seem to recall something like this happening about 3 years ago, the next update took care of it but that didn't come for about a month.

I'm seeing both things.

Some terms return serps with lots of repetition of KWs, few backlinks, and no real content. Other terms show serps that are full of fairly on topic sites that barely mention the KW at all, not even in the title tag.

Confusing.

I really hope this is one of those situations where things will revert soon.

Backlinks update is now showing.... Around 1000 new backlinks have shown for only 2 of my sites, I'm checking further :)

I have noticed the backlinks/new PR are bouncing/dancing. When the backlinks are 'new' the traffic is good and searches are 'interesting'
