How are you checking www3, everytime I try to go there it redirects me to www.
It has been like this for a while now.
.....
Yippee - PR updated - well, it dont really mean much to me nowadays. As another posters has pointed out, loads of new sites are still suffering from the 'Google Lag'.
However no changes in SERPs so far :( ... site comes up on 5th+ pages only.
This update has a huge advantage however: getting backlinks becomes MUCH easier...I don't have to explain why...
This update made my day happier...it was worth investing the hard work after all
It's difficult, of course, to know this for sure as there's a lot of shifting sand.
I've made a new post about this theory, it's awaiting moderation.
1) I see no changes if I pop to my site using the recently visited sites in the address bar, but do see changes if I pop in tying the address.
2) Usually all pages linked to from my index-page inherited the same PR but today one got PR1 and another one PR3. I have to wait how stable this becomes the next days.
I think Google has done a revaluation of PR, that the old PR * about 0.8-0.9 gives the new PR.
That would seem to explain my own results. Traffic has increased but most of my pages (including the index page)have dropped 1 level.
Has anyone any ideas when the 'real' PR change came into effect? My traffic increased about 13 September.
The question is - how relevant is PR now to Google SERPS?
Er, we're talking Toolbar PR rather than Algo PR...
TPR has a lot of good uses. Apart from the obvious - getting links - it builds credibility, helps you get a better price on selling a site, and in some small way gives your competitors an immediate, visual indication that your linking building strategies are working better than theirs'. :)
(If you are selling to webmasters it's amazing how much more likely they are to buy from your PR8 page than your PR2 page especially if they've never heard of you before. That's hard sales, hard money, just for having PR)
