I noticed my very well performing site for 100s of Reginal Keyword lost its Index from Google Cache 3 days back.

Today whole site has disappeared from Google, NOTHING in cache, NOTHING indexed, NO referals.

1) I saw the Fresh Tag on index page on 6th May
2) Index not in Cache on 8th may
3) Whole site about 300 Pages out of Google / completely disappeared, nothing in cache.

Can this be a Sudden Death Penalty? what could be the possible reasons?
I can rule out that BAD links is not at all a problem.

I have proper robots.txt in royal******
It says
User-agent: *
Disallow: /

Since I dont want to give a chance to Google to say I have Dupe, this site is completely disallowed for crawling.

Further, Google has not hit this site (royal*****) for past several months.

The index page has been dropped, I did a "unique keyword site:www.mysite.com" search for the index page no page returned, the rest of the site returns results.

Thanks for your efforts, but I see the whole site dropped.

Can you sticky me how did you concluded that only index is dropped?

Can anybody explain this--
- I had 238 Backlinks, out of which approx 200 were from this site itself
Now when I see my Backlinks...it still says 238 Backlinks...BUT DO NOT SHOW LINKS FROM THIS SITE ITSELF... which were shown earlier.

Earlier = till 6th may

The robots.txt is lying in Root Directory, so it should not be browsed by using path www.royal*****/robots.txt

am i mistaking somewhere?

real***** is not using robots.txt

Yep, that's a mistake. Put it in your htdocs directory. The same directory as your index.html page. Also, i noticed that your robots.txt file disallowed all bots from all content in that directory. You might want to fix that.

Even I put it were in httpdocs, it would not have made any difference because royal**** has not been visited by Googlebot for last several Months.
(This site had a slow death ...reasons are still unknown).

I reconfirmerd using the Logs of royal**** that Googlebot never asked for robots.txt even for past few months.

If Google does not show your own site's internal backlinks, that does not mean they are not counted.

Hi,

Well, your site seems to be penalized for duplicate content.

1) Type the following in google search box>
"The Land of Rich Heritage, Colors and Traditions brings out the most of regal experiences. Check out the mood of various Destinations in Rajasthan, most liked and appreciated by Travelers around the globe."

2) Your site has content which is duplicated on your Sri Lanka travel site & also on the eGlobe Hotels site.

"You have been kicked for having duplicate Content in differents Sites"

How does Google or Y! go about deleting one of two dupes? The older one should stay....but is this how it works?

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh MY GOD

I dint notice that the Bugger has Copied whole Termplates!
BUT I bet those Opening Lines and content has been written by me Personally!

Still I wonder...Copying my Graphics/Website Proto and few Lines text would make any Penalty, and on Top of it...its that site which Copied ours.

I dont know how Google can ignore such a big Fact?

Am really sunk now.

talking about that srilanka site
The Way Back Machine is the best tool to prove that who actually Copied?
[web.archive.org...]

This is the Template on 29th May 2003 and that Bugger's Domain was registered on 23rd Oct. 2003.

I have nothing more to say,
I 100% disagree that I can be penalized for Duplicacy.

(Mods. it was necessary to post the URL, please remove if its not appropriate)

Wanna_learn,

If your site is the older one, and you have been chucked out, this is bad.

Before anything else, please find a legal-sounding threatening letter and and mail them, asking them to cease and desist. Find a long one. Anyone here got a format with them?

Back to your site being banned - Google is supposed to be good at recognising which is the older site. If this happened to you, we all could get into trouble.

Folks, any ideas?

My sympathies for your problem, hope it gets worked out--
One positive side effect of this thread: I did a Google search for certain lines of original text from my site and discovered companies who simply lifted my entire index-page as their own. (I rank #1 for several money KWs in my trade). Most are in Sri Lanka or something but one is in the states, so I called him and ripped into him like a Doberman on crack. Not only does my site say it's copyrighted on every page, but I also took the precaution of federally registering a copyright copy of the site with the federal government over a year ago. This guy's goose is utterly, totally cooked, cut and dried, arse is grass. He's trembling in his boots, wondering if I'm going to press charges...most probably not, between you and me
:o)
(my understanding is, I'd have to prove loss of revenue, get lawyers involved, etc., which is a no-fun ordeal with uncertain outcome) but man, it sure feels good to have this creep caught and squirming uncomfortably on a microscope slide!

So, thanks for the heads-up.
And I hope it works out. If you can stick it to 'im, go ape, for all of us. Parasititc thieving m-f'ers...

Have you tried contacting Google?

I've found them to be extremely helpful.

I had a case recently where I was hacked two days in a row ... they completely defaced my Nuke area, my forum, my guestbook and my weblog. I was crawled before I found out about it and my ranking went down terribly. When I repaired the site ... I was hacked again the next day.

I finally installed a wonderful security system ... but kept getting hackalert notices and one of them was foolish enough not to hide his referrer ... and I tracked it back to a forum where they had posted a direct sql injection link to my site (prior to my patch of that particular method) ....

Anyway ... several search engines still had me listed as "Micca OWNS you" instead of my actual title.

I was thoroughly upset about it ... and even more so that my site had went from between 6 - 7 PR down to less than 3! And I've had at least a PR of 5 since the site opened.

Anyway, I contacted Google and gave them the information, explaining that it WAS possible for someone to affect the PR of another persons site .. and I provided the information and links that I had to verify my statements.

I was immediately restored back to my original PR.

I'd recommend writing them. They always respond quickly and they are very helpful.

In any case ... goodluck!

I have hard time thinking that Google is going to help you maximize your PR and such by giving you advice or helping you out.

This sounds like nothing more than a case of cross linking with the same content on multiple sites. You say you have a robots that does not allow links following, but a 404 is returned for robots.txt.

You screwed around with cross linking and you got caught, and now very little you do is going to make any change quickly. Cut out the cross linking, maybe find some other links, and with some luck you will be re-included in google in the next 10 years.

I don't know what is going on... but one of my newer sites just disappeared from the Google SERPs also. The cached home page was rolled back to a very old version from last year ("welcome to your new site" ... you know, the default home page from before you start to upload new pages).

The only thing I can think of that might have tripped a filter is renaming the anchor text of back-links to the home page from "Home" to the title of the website, which is a 2 word phrase. This is not exactly SPAM, but I guess you never know with Google.

One of my sites is ranked #2 in Yahoo for a very competitive key phrase, but nowhere to be found in Google. So I'll reduce the keyword density and rename all my backlinks to generic fluff, and see what happens in a couple of months.

"This sounds like nothing more than a case of cross linking with the same content on multiple sites. You say you have a robots that does not allow links following, but a 404 is returned for robots.txt."

Thanks for your advice but you must have mistaken,
1) My Mirrored site royal***** has not been crawaled for last 7 Months (Logs say this)
So there is No question of having or not having robots.txt

2) I dont have Dupelicate Content sites and on top of it they are not INTERLINKED just for the sake of Linking and Pumping PR....very rare Interlinking. FYI

I just have 5 Sites which or on different Subjects.

Comparing with Scam of Webmasters owing 100s site on same IP and Interlinked playing well on Google rules out my possibility of triggering a Penalty for Logical Interlinking.

Still , I would appreciate if you could sticky me the exact fault you finded.

3) I am due to pay 23US$ to Google for Adwords for last 3 Monts for a Campaign ran for this site....can that be a reason of Google banning it?

We are not sure what is going on with Google, but over the last several days our traffic has dropped dramatically. We have written G, but chances of anything being done to help are slim at best. Whatever happened to GoogleGuy? He always seemed quick to help look into these strange issues that plague us webmaster from time to time. Without a resoultion we cannot survive as a viable business entity. Beginning to believe there is a conspiracy between G and Y to run the competition of small mom and pops out of business.

in all fairness, you can't ecpect them to help you with traffic issues. If you're banned and stuff that's another story
