How often does Google update backlinks?

So are these backlink additions on CW just a tease or what? Usually by now they start rolling into other datacenters and flirt with the main idex occasionally...causing serps to move about wildly. This has been such a slow weekend.

What I SEE -

the effect of the backlinks to the SERPS has been sorted out 1-2 weeks ago. As many has been talking and agreeing. So what you see now doesn't affect the SERPs. Except SERPs of link:yourdomain.com. haha

Yidaki i passed on the link farm to you. Its been around since before march and has been growing since then. I've reported it to google several times now,with no effect.. There are now over 1000 interlinked domains in the link farm.

Might help you: i've been also paralyzed in the past about competitors that gained positions above mine using techniques i called "spam". It'll regulate itself - believe me!

Well, something is happening...

CW has new backlinks (a modest increase that's still way behind the times) - ok this has been the case for a few days.

But, no update on the other DCs yet - as far as I can tell.

And yet, when I perform the same backlink check on google.co.uk I get a "Your search - link:*url* - did not match any documents." (?!)

So what's going on?

I jumped to No.6 after I guess a recent PR8 link was picked up in the continuous crawl, and now these 2-3-month-old backlinks come in and I'm back down to 30 again. Come back freshbot, you seem to be the guy that counts now.

Data center www-in is alternating between 799,000 and 1,100,000 backlinks for Yahoo and very slow (2.4 second for a search). Few days ago I saw on www-gv also '1,100,000' for backlinks on Yahoo, but now there is a time-out.

Backwards links seem to have been stuck for quite some time now.

Using:
-111111111 site:domain
I get the correct amount of about 5000+ Using all the other methods (that I know of) I get 119 or 145

What is going on. Simple speak please, I'm simple :o)

Is it still a fact that only pages with a PR of minumum 4 will count when you check backlinks?

My site went from 1,300 links 3 months ago to just 33 links and have not moved one bit the past 2 months :-(

No, but then again toolbar PR values are questionable at best.

i dontknow if this was already posted but i jsut checked 3 of my main keywords with millions of results on www and on 2 of them there is new number 1 - that is PDF document! huh? how is this posssible?

Maybe I'm dense, but is there any reason a PDF document shouldn't rank well? If it is on-topic then what makes it any different from an HTML page? I must be missing something.

swerve, you might get back to an old PR. Whether the New or Old PR your are getting depends on which datacenters you are being redirected to. So this morning you are redirected to an updated server. Someone else might be redirected to an old server. It is random and it is how google works. (some kind of load balancing)

No it hasn't. It's still in flux on www at least for my site and most likely others as well.

I get different backlink results just switching between browsers or operating systems or different times of the day. This is all just using www, not the other data centers.

Getting a page from www means getting data from ab, in, cw, ex, va, dc, or fi. And every time you send another or the same query, the result might come from another data center then the previous one. There is no data center called 'www'. See it as a helpdesk with one official telephone number, and 8 operators. If you call that help desk with the official number (www), you can get one of them on the phone. And next time you might end up with another one. Unless you dial a direct line (one specific data center).

Recently I have spent much effort on obtaining quality links to my site. Google finally realized this and deep crawled my site and index my pages.

However, it still does not show the backlinks to my site. The pages that links to my site are of PR3 to PR9. Is it because google hasn't yet updated those pages?

FYI, it hasn't been that long that google indexed my site. It has been around 1 week.
