You guys all need to chill out. Google would go out of business if they followed through on everyone's paranoia.
WWW is clean of sj,fi,dc - that storm is over - I'm sure most of those sites don't even exist anymore, and besides googleguy never said which aspect of their algo they were testing. Perhaps they took an old index that had been cleaned but took it in it's orignal spammy form and applied certain algos to it on sj,fi,dc to test spam filters etc - accidently some of those results spilled onto www now they are gone. Who is to say google won't test something else next? Hopefully the testing is done and they are bringing in the index with the deepbot data from april and all the freshbot activty recently.
LOL we have done that enough, i hope like everyone else like me is back to work...
err..What work?
1) Stop those ethical SEO stuff
2) Study spammy / shady SEO sites
3) And start spamming...
For me: nothing on www and my internal pages including site-map - PR values are jumping from 4-6-0 & for last 1 hr its PR0 for doing good SEO
While for my competition: Massive crossing linking in multiple domains /doorway pages
1) Top ten for all possible keywords (fi, sj, dc & www)
2) PR value 6
3) Enjoying traffic
Lesson learned from Google: Stop good SEO start spamming because the user going to love it!
Lesson learned by reporting Spam: Nothing happens - its a waste of your time which you could have used in learning some spammy SEO techniques...
How may Webmasters agree to this?
The point is, you don't publicly test something that is this totally bad. Not if you are #1. Not if you are known for quality. The best restaurant in the city doesn't serve dung-on-a-stick one hour a day to "test" it.
Sure, I have maybe 2% faith that if Google ever does get to the update that evrything will be fine, but the fact that the last deepcrawl was objectively botched, the fact this update is overdue, the fact that for some reason the *need* to publicly air such dirty laundry... these are signs that can't be shrugged off.
If Google's results become as poor as Ink's for even two months (about what these "tests" are equal to), that is a very very long time, and the public will notice and do something about it (hello Teoma).
Steveb, allthough i highly doubt this, it'd be perfectly legit in my eyes. You can't forget that they run a business based on free services for everybody that get's financed through selling ads and search technology.
The fact that they open the plex doors so much, the fact that GoogleGuy is the bridge between webmasters and the search engine company Google inc., is a big win for all us webmasters. I guess that many business people wouldn't open their books that much!
