Our engineers have been notified of this problem and will work to resolve it.

I'm beginning to doubt the accuracy of this statement since that error has been happening for several days now..

i've been getting it for a couple of days as well, but you can just click on performance reports and get the latest results that way,

Fantastic CTR and clicks last couple of days. But like others' CPC is terrible. And all my clicks are desktop. Google, care to explain?

Adsense is floundering for most and flourishing for some. For me, if things don't improve soon, I'm out! I'd rather have ad-free sites than give my space away for virtually nothing. This is ludicrous!

Note: Said this Above: BAU

Looking for mercury ups/downs income/loss> You are looking too often and will get heart burn and reap nothing but disappointment. Set aside part of your site real estate for this particular ad income and portion the rest for other possibilities. You will breathe easier in the long run. :)

It still works, just not the way it used to.

If you rely on this, that's your bad, or sad, whichever way that turns out. :)

It is a 100% FACT by now that many things have fundamentally changed within Adsense, and it's for the worse. No doubts, no questions. Period. Mobile is going to be the death knell for Adsense.

The 4th of July was a rubbish day as far as clicks were concerned, but I am no longer surprised by this. My traffic was WAY UP and for that traffic I earned a rubbish amount indeed. Never have I seen so much traffic bled away for nothing, like pouring water on a stone.

5 years from now, IF Adsense is still running, they should have renamed it AdCents by then, and most of the guys running it will be Asians (who would continue chasing after these cents).

I suspect adsense is much slower than it used to be, perhaps because they now get ads from about 1900 ad networks (on our sites at least), and then load lots of large images, and async in the adsense code also makes it load later.

It is also possible that responsive ads that specify sizes for ads slow things down further, and modern responsive sites tend to need more code and perhaps jquery etc loaded before the ads start loading, which also slows things down (since these are also loaded before adsense)

... the impact seems to be that ads early in the code and above the fold are not loaded until the visitor has moved on in the page. So sites with ads further down, in the sidebar etc are less affected.

Sites I have left 'unmodernised' have cpm roughly unchanged over the last 2-3 years, while modernised sites are at least 50% down on cpm (sites with c. 1million PVs per month so a significant statistical sample). Luckily our traffic has increased quite a lot so the overall change to income is not quite as serious as it could be.

I'm about to setup a test to 'unmodernise' a site to check this but it's quite a lot of work removing bootstrap 3 classnames, jquery dependencies etc so I've been putting off doing it for quite a while...has anyone else tried something similar?

No experiment in that regard, Rasputin, but I don't change old site4s without reason. these have generally held up over time (minor loss). New sites are RWD (why not?).

The web is changing, and the users are more sophisticated (or ingrained). So...

as said Business As Usual...

All I can say is thanks to mobile and tablet today, my desktop has 0% CTR!

There's no need to speculate how this day is going to end.

I don't know what's going on. June was my best month and July is going to be worst day by day. CPM and CTR are too low :(

Why does adsense feel like a scene from a crime caper where there dishing out the loot and it's 1 for use and two for them everytime we get clicks.

That's how I feel at the moment. The ratio of approved clicks to raw clicks on my sites yesterday was about 30%. So it's more like "ten clicks, three for you, seven for us".

I can rule out around a quarter of those as multiple clicks and accidentals (i.e. 1-2 seconds offsite before returning). But that still leaves a lot of clicks vanished into the ether for no apparent reason.

Strangely enough, while the ratio of raw clicks to paid clicks has fluctuated fairly significantly over the past week, CTR has remained fairly constant. Conspiracists can make of that what they will. It's almost like G has decreed that no matter how many raw clicks you get, your CTR shall be 'x'.

I am sure some of you have experienced cases where you get some big fat clicks, and after that nothing for that particular ad unit for the rest of the day. I have gotten this innumerable times.

It's like a "ceiling" has been placed on your account, and what Google deems you *should* earn is what you get....

In my case, getting gobs of traffic has only managed to "stop" my earnings from going down the gutter. I am earning about the same today as I was earning one year back (actually to be honest, significantly less). And this is on 3 times MORE traffic now as I used to have last year.

Go figure.

First 5 days of July have been really bad. Let's hope things get better from Monday.

The first 5 days = FUBAR.
Traffic was pretty normal, but the payment was nightmare.

Worst month for me. CPC and RPM dropped by over 60%. I just hope this will change soon!

July/August are always lower periods because most Advertisers don't spend money during the summer months as most people are on vacation or spending more time outdoors.

I've been with Adsense for 11 years. Same thing each year. I've made more money so far than any July in history with Adsense, but at the same time my profits are noticeably lower than say June or any other month this year.

YMMV however I'm in a global industry working 24/7/365.

Sunday's desktop metrics were a nightmare for me:

Clicks 50%
CTR 67.1%
EPC 50%
RPM 35%
Earnings 25.1%

I'm not going to go back to my heydays of AdSense but how does the first five days of July compare to the past three years?

v 2014 62.5%
v 2013 39.9%
v 2012 36.5%

Not much of a trend there is there?

Ebuzz there are absolulely "shut-down" mechanisms in place by Google. It's very rare to ever surpass what your normal daily earnings are. Also, start out by having a really good day? Google will likely flag that and you'll see a couple more pennies the rest of the day.

Google's reporting have been broken/inconsistent for weeks now. Google keeps changing what the login page looks like. Google's ad targeting more often than not makes no sense. One day it's just fine, the next it's serving completely unrelated ads. Things are certainly a mess.

Going full traffic via Open X for the rest of the month.

US CTR, EPC and RPM all through the roof today. Like Adsense of the good old days.

Thousands of users, the majority of which is from the US, 29 cents in revenue, 1 click. FYI This is the worst day I have ever had RPM wise.

After the first six days of July my click volume is down 30.8% ... on my sites AdSense is in its spiral death throes.

No good days for me in July so far. Google has fallen so far that in the last two weeks I have had two days with higher RPMs at Media.net than AdSense on pages that run the two ads adjacent to each other. In the past that was unthinkable.

Gosh, I like my pesky day job!
