Google Gift Has Arrived

Doubt that I'm the first, but this is sure early compared to last year when I was sitting in the bathroom feeling all rejected with a razor blade waiting to open a vein if that Google gift didn't show up the day before xmas.....

Just kidding, I use an electric razor, and it showed up :)

Tonight, the knock at the door came and it was the Fedex Santa once again bringing goodies to all the good boys and girls that shoved AdSense in their visitors faces all year long.

Everyone knows I've been naughty, but this gift sure is nice!

The gift specs are as follows:

* 3.6 inch TFT digital photo frame

Got mine yesterday. Also came with a multi-country power adapter and a small, presumably blank CD. The box it came in was fun too.

But, I've had the "file error" problem with the photo frame too. Of the 10 pics I tried to load up, only one shows and the rest are "file error".

It's a beautiful gift though, and once I figure out how to make it work properly, I'll be even giddier. How do they know what makes us geeks happy? They've done pretty well at that the last 3 years. My kids still love the light-up radio.

On the CD is a little program that will fix up images that give the file error. (or) When the images were re-sized with irfanview it gave the file error, but if it was resized with photoimpact it worked no problem.

Got mine and my wife had to talk me out of throwing it away. Granted, I get a little frustrated when I can't get things to work immediately. I can't get any pictures to work on it. All I get is file error messages. I've read of many other people having this problem. The software on that little disc that converts it to whatever jpg format it needs to be in is awful. Basically, I can only get it to accept photos straight from my digital camera, but nothing else. Nothing that has ever been touched by photoshop.

Any ideas on how to make it work?

Almost four freaking years with AS and every year I heard about the gift here and I never got anything.

It's OK, I'll rather have my big check (actually is a direct deposit now) every month than a small gift for christmas.

Are those gifts suppose to go to those who make less than 3K/month? or any body can get it?

I just read on a blog that anyone can save the photo using MSPaint and you wont get the error messages. I tried it, it works. I noticed that paint saved using uppercase file extension, so I tried changing photoshop settings to not use lowercase, but still didn't work in frame.

I wish Paint had a batch function. I'll have to go looking for that old copy of photoimpact I had around here. Hope it does batch processing like PS Elements does.

I'm by no means a Google Adsense 'biggie' yet, but I would LOVE to get a freebie gift. :) Congrats on the gift - enjoy.

I didn't get a picture frame, but I know that Microsoft has a power toy that does batch image resizing. If they use the same engine for making images in both paint and their resizer, then it might be a quick way to make your images compatible and even the right resolution to fit in the frame. Google "PowerToys XP". And good ol' MS made it free too :)

I just got my frame today. I had the same problems... so I batched my pics in photoshop and then opened them one by one in MS Paint and simply saved. Uploaded to frame, reset power.... voila.

Quirky, but I love the frame.

It's always nice to read about other people's achievements, seem to give me hope to reach the same place as you guys though I'm still a terribly frightfully long way off.

Anyway, you guys make it sound so easy to hit the high end adsense income. But in truth, is it really that easy?

I got mine today in Florida, US. I don't think I'm even going to try to use it, looks complicated. I guess I'll just keep it in it's box and look at it every now and again like last year's gift. I have gotten lots of use out of the radio though, was listening to it last night!

My gift from last year is almost worn out! That USB kit and wireless mouse has been around the country and back a few times now. Can't live without the little thing so when it drops dead I'll have to replace it.

I am very happy to get it! (saved pics in Photoshop, then saved as .jpg as 640x480)... then had to power off and on again. Worked then.

I got mine today and it's a piece of crap, doesn't work. I get file errors trying to view a photo and sound cuts off 2 seconds into a song for mp3. Nice try google, but it's JUNK
