Google Gift Has Arrived

Doubt that I'm the first, but this is sure early compared to last year when I was sitting in the bathroom feeling all rejected with a razor blade waiting to open a vein if that Google gift didn't show up the day before xmas.....

Just kidding, I use an electric razor, and it showed up :)

Tonight, the knock at the door came and it was the Fedex Santa once again bringing goodies to all the good boys and girls that shoved AdSense in their visitors faces all year long.

Everyone knows I've been naughty, but this gift sure is nice!

The gift specs are as follows:

* 3.6 inch TFT digital photo frame
* 960 x 240 TFT screen, 16 mega-color
* Picture: JPG format
* Audio: MP3, WMA, WAV and records WAV itself
* Video: ASF only
* Media: Internal memory and SD card, comes with sample slideshow in memory

* Power: 4 AA batteries or USB 5V or AC/DC power adapter

Personally, I think that - at least in the past - it's been based on one particular month's check payment. Get a check, get a gift. I say that because in the Year of the Radio I had a check go missing earlier and had it reissued. About the same time both checks showed up (the current month's and the reissue), so did two radios.

After receiving "8 tips to Optimize AdSense" in 2004 as my Holiday Gift from Google, I assumed that I had a PR1 (PresentRank of 1). Last year, I was hoping to get to PR2, but... nothing. Apparently penalized back to PR0.

I'm sure it's a standard 320x240 screen, they're just giving you the "elemental" pixel count (each pixel is made up of red, green & blue elements) for some bizarre reason.

Got mine today and I'm not in the UPS club.

Neat gadget but it seems very, very fussy about which JPEG files it will display and which it won't. Seems OK on files straight out of a digital camera, but almost any edit seems to result in "FILE ERROR" when uploaded. Anyone else seeing this?

It also seems picky anout MP3 files. One that plays perfectly everywhere else just fast forwards on this gizmo.

Before anyone goes "I didn't get mine!" remember that this is a LOT of parcels to ship out and it could take until the end of the year for them to ship. The first year I got one - and there were a heck of a lot fewer AdSensers back then - I didn't get mine until the new year.
