On the plus site, now that my site is in the toilet, pesky webmasters will stop finding it and linking to it...
Ah well, just looking for some humor in my situation.
I don't know about george's site, but I have real unique content and I'm down in the sewers.
Me, too, at least this morning. I lost 75% of my Google referrals in the March 23 update, and now it's worse: Today I'm at #5 for my site name, behind some greybarred site that merely mentions my site with a blurb that says, "Is [my site name] your business? Do you run one of the competiting Travel Magazines Online in Rhode Island? Find out how your ad can STAND OUT with a photo, color, and lots of description for just $20 a month!"
Sheesh. Still, it's early days yet, and with luck Google will come to its senses before the update is over.

quite painful to look at site when you cant do anything.
Ant really hard to take care of site, because you even dont know if you will ever come back...
Maybe now I'm spammer in google opinion...
fascinating...

I have a content-filled site about a singer/songwriter. Searching for one of his song titles at Google produces pages of listings for lyrics sites and other junk before the listing for my site's article about the song. If the duplicate content filter worked, there would be, at the most, one lyrics site listed at the top of the SERPS and most of the junk would be filtered. But, as I said before, Google is broken (and so far, this update seems to make the problem worse). They'll eventually get it working correctly .. I hope.

I have similar problems - down on page 3 for my non-generic unique site title. Ahead of me are dmoz clones, unrelated sites and a news article that mentions my site (once) etc.
(yes, site is full of lots of unique content, no duplication)
Well this one is different. Quality indeed. The other links you previously listed were pure spam though, and I wasn’t the only one to see that.
But you are right about this one. It is really great and i apologise!

Googleguy, I hope you read this thread, because this
is just plain wrong.
travel related serps have been hit
None of mine have, actually from the serps I check, it looks like any ordinary day - no changes at all. Go figure...
I took a snippet at random from your Athens travel
page, the one you put up here (against TOS)
Up came two completely different sites with the very same text. Clearly, somebody is scraping somebody
I'm not saying you are a scraper (how can I know?) but this might explain your loss of position in the SERPs.
If I were you, I would do likewise. Take random snippets of text from your original material,
(assuming it is indeed original) and see where else it appears.
Either you will learn who is copying your stuff, or you will be reminded where you got it in the first place.
Either way, you will have a better clue what happened to your Google SERPs. - Larry
As you posted your urls (which will get nixed shortly no doubt) I just looked at your history section and did a google search on one sentence -- 5 of the top 10 results has the exact same content as your history page. Quite a few of them indicate their content as coming from one of the worse (IMO) "canned travel content" providers.
That being the case you're probably losing out partly due to a duplicate content penalty. As the content doesn't appear to be original, it doesn't really belong in the top 10 -- I do agree it must be frustrating to see others with the same canned stuff as you and you not there -- but honestly, none of you belong there.
Of course if by chance you did write the content yourself then you should either revise how you're licensing the content to others or take them to task for ripping your content off.
Ya, stemming has been hit or miss the last couple of updates. I have not studied it, but have noticed there appears to be a descrepancy in the way stemming works - it doesn't appear to be universal. Some kw's appear to stem and others don't.
Anyone been studying the phenom? What just happened with stemming?
>specifics
please don't even comment on them - just use the report-a-post option and let the mods take care of it. Commenting on it, just means that you are contributing to the problem.
nice to see you randomly posting again
Thanks Brett. Not entirely at random though. I did pick this thread after careful consideration and deliberation ;-)
Interesting comment about stemming. As you can probably guess, I was looking at hotel and hotels. They have always differed - until now. It will be interesting to see what other observations your post will trigger.
