Are you guys seeing the same on google.com as you see on the DCs? I'm still seeing different results.

I image Google.com will probably be the last place to show the changes...

one of my sites has had a huge increase (approx 80%). Interestingly enough the end pages on this site are not targeted at particular words. Instead they contain alot of related content as they show products from the same category.
Other sites that had pages with very targeted money phrases have dropped.
To me this seems like the LSI / page themeing theory. The page where the search phrase has a lower density but much related text are more successful.

I guess the saying 'content is king' is now more applicable than ever.

I think thie update has run its course.

Had Google of cared that our sites were missing, then I'm sure they could have done something to bring them back. I think that Google are confident in that their new results are better. Perhaps for the phrases they monitor, they are?

I don't know why Google would consider a 3rd party website to be more appropriate than my own website, for a search of my specific and unique brand.

GoogleGuy, we know you're reading this, and you posted the other day in another thread, so I'll see what info I can get from you, with or without your participation.

I respect your position as an employee / executive of a public company (one that I don't own but have friends that do.)

GoogleGuy, if Google is confident in it's newest index, then come on here and state as such, That you are confident with this update and that you see no need for immediate change.

IF you do know of a bug / glitch, then say nothing, don't post, and this will be evidence enough of a bug in the Google system. I'm sure other webmasters here will accept silence to carry this meaning too - since we know you could never say it directly on account of your position, and we know that if you were confident in Google's database that you would have no problem publically stating as such, in fact it would be promotion.

I don't think we're asking for much, not in return for all that we webmasters have done in building Google, and securing all of you guys as multi-millionaires. But maybe we were fools to give to Google? Maybe those little boys (Larry & Serge), which we all thought as cute computer nerds, were underestimated. Maybe their plan all along was to sneak in as a cute teddy bear and transform into something which really isn't as inviting., once they had emassed a good following.

So, after a week of mayhem - the "reply" button is to the top right:

GoogleGuy, are those sites which have recently vanished gone for good, or are gone temporarily.

You Post = Gone for Good (You love the update)
No Post = Back Shortly (There's a bug or something which you can't talk about, but you're working on it)

to Chico_Loco:

A statement from GoogleGuy is impossible. The only thing he could write is something like:

"Wait until this update is over and our index is complete. We're not done yet and most of the factors we need to weight results are not in..."

I don't think this update is done yet. Or maybe a better way to put is that it hasn't been completely rolled out to all of the data centers yet.

I am still seeing differences among the datacenters, both in actual sites present/not-present in the SERPs and for quantity of results. One SERP I watch is returning anywhere frmo 22M results to 45M results, depending on the datacenter.

And depending on when I hit the search button on my toolbar, I get different results for the same searches.

Its been awhile since we've had a big update, so my observation skills are a bit rusty... but I believe we used to call an update "done" when all of the datacenters were showing the same results.

Humorous Note: I am such a search geek that I have had the Google News Forum set as my home page of my browser for the last couple of years. I didn't even notice until today that WebmasterWorld ARCHIVED the old Google News forum! I noticed it today, and found this thread! Doh!

Tonight was the first time that my site ranked #1 on "sitename" search on a DC since we dropped and at the same time had the updated nr of backlinks at the same DC. This gives me a little hope.

Quite sure it's not over yet.

My site had 900 pages indexed and it raised to 1200 last days. Checking the DC's, 5 of them are indexing almost 4000 pages at the moment.

Can't wait till they kick in.

I wonder if G checks these threads, says "they stopped #*$!ing, it must be fine" and leave it as it is.
