Myself and SugarKane celebrated the first beers of PubCon 4 tonight. (eg: I probably shouldn't be posting at this time. lol. If you log in and find anything really really weird, it can be safely discounted.)

- hotel - most excellent. Everything it was billed to be.
- hotel bar - rather small, but cozy. Micro brewery within one block!
- odds are running 40-60 on a certain WebmasterWorld member making it into the states ;-)
- Top new SEO tips and tricks...as if...you had to be there ;-)

>>two days for London?

Would be nice... and the second day doesn't need to be anything more than a formal get together in a pub so at least we all know where to find each other.

duplicate content

I'll tell you something you might not believe. On Sunday night, a group of us who had been there since Thursday went to a pub across from the Boston Commons, and we closed the place. OK, I know you'll believe that much. But how about this --

For about 4 hours, there was not one mention of the website business between the 8 of us.

hmmm... sound vaguely like a "Website Owners Anonymous" meeting. ;)

You all must have had the shakes after that! :)

>I'm sure Woz and I could agree on a Sydney venue!

Rumor going around about we can't get to Sydney, so we are going to try to bring Woz to London. Another rumor going around that on one of the dates is his birthday.

Yeah, they were the only real pubcon dissapointments: The poor buggers that couldn't make it that I'd like to have met ;)

>reading between the lines
hehehehe, I only look stupid. ;)

OK, I feel I ought to share this with you. So many laughs in this thread.

When ProfitPuppy asked "what do you do"... and having answered it once or twice sensibly... I said what is fine for most gatherings where there are no Webmasters before eyes glaze over...

I said...

I have a web site. WOW!

I guess by then I was feeling that I was mucking about with web sites, not the professional I had thought I was before the conference :)
Phew, its out now! Thanks for being so polite PP.

David Cecil (Search Engine Commando) is out on Pandia with a review:

...and for those too lazy to click the link, here's a summary:

We got there, had breakfast, some other guys were there too. Then we had lunch and went to the pub. Then we went home.

Bad memory or just too much beer?

Well, Pandia wasn't actually there - it was mostly from David I hear - that's cool. Thanks Per!

Yep, it was not Pandia, it was just a little scant on detail for one that was there I thought....

Did any WBW members or even search engine reps accuse anyone of spamming? That would have been very entertaining :) Wish I was there....

"It's pronounced "neech," not "nitch."

I was also corrected on that... can't remember for sure, but my mind wants to attribute the correction to Caine.

My curiosity is piqued. What is "it"?

No, lawman, if you say it's "to-MAY-to", I'm stickin' with "to-MAY-to". ;)

(Per dictionary.com: niche is pronounced either "nich" or "neesh". (My phonetics, sorry.))

Winooski,
If you start saying neesh, I think you can raise your rates with your clients.

. . . and if you say "neesh" you have to hold out your pinky finger when drinking a cup of tea.

Just got back from Boston.

Had a great time at the conference, enjoyed meeting all the regulars, and putting names to some new faces. All and all it's what i have grown to expect - a real online community personified in the flesh.

Came away from this one with a surreal hangover, that was most certianly cultivated during the 4 days talking, debating, and picking up new tips. Unfortunately, as you have probably noticed, i decided to stay on a few more days, and so did the drinking. Not whinning - though Boston was a great venue.

Hopefully the next conference in the U.S. will be as stimulating and rewarding, as i am sure that the upcoming U.K. conference will most certainly be.

Thanks to all that made the trek, and hope to see you'se and any others at the next one!

Time for bed - 11.38 am - been awake for 27 hours - pillow - sleeeeeeeeppp!

Oh boy, you think it's rough now?
When you get up and read this you're gonna wish you'd died peacefully in your sleep ;)

Glad you made it back in one piece caine, what were you up to?
