site:mysite.com shows all, well 12,500 was like 4150 a couple days ago, at anyrate 1000 of them yes, most have a title then below desriptions.

This thing happened to another site of mine on the last update, first home page gone, then a few days one by one all pages started to go, then one by one all came back in like a couple hours(new data rolling in i guess). Was kinda kewl to watch your site re errect from the dead...

This started same way, but now its only the home page, like its..... stuck, needs a swift kick to start fading out all my pages, then bringing them all back ;)

Why was the update announcement up so early and why is it still there? People must be coming online all the time and seeing it and then ploughing through the best part of twenty pages until they realise there wasn't one. And it's not even April 1st

Well clearly the Directory was updated, backlinks were, as far as I can see in my area. The serps I watch are definately a bit different(after like the 5th serp, theres alot of weird pages showing, then at about 15 more of the old stuff showing) <<< different.

Page count alah>> site:yoursite.com has gone way up, some say 10x.

My Home Page dissapeared. And is still missing in action, no cache etc....

I'm with deanril - I hear the quacking getting closer and...closer....and.....

In one of the Google talks in New Orleans it was pointed out that there are many algo updates that go totally unnoticed here at WebmasterWorld. It seemed to me that the scale of the update may depend on one's niche,site, and many other factors.

Yah, this isn't an update. Backlinks/Directory data may be freshly visible, but the core data hasn't changed more than the usual everflux.

Whoops - I missed GG's earlier post. This is NOT an update regardless of any of our quacks to the quontrary....

deanril - submit the reinclusion request...I'm wondering if you could use that "spam report" with keyword gilligan to get fast attention, though it might have a bit of risk since that's a non spam report.

I wouldn´t do that. The link GoogleGuy mentioned is only for reporting spam. Lets leave it that way ;-)

Exactly, I like to keep a looooooooooooow profile, I remember a while back Google actually called me at work, was like #*$!? Was the advertising guys trying to promote some advertising for one of my sites. In the past my comments were'nt so pleasant so I definately keep my site away from the google radar.

The datacenters have been in movement (sometimes very vigorous) for a week or so.

I would have thought that its a "pre-update" stage. But it might as well be the good old days "everflux", as GoogleGuy mentioned in his post.

Still see that the serps need a thorough cleaning, especially at top 10 listings in the sector I watch. This can´t be resolved by the "everflux" but by an update.

GG might have shown up again BECAUSE of the headline, if this isn't an update. I'm sure Google doesn't want this news to go mainstream if it's not true.

deanril, if it's only your root page and you see other pages if you do site:yourdomain.com, I wouldn't worry about it and I'd give it a little time.

nsqlg, I'm not sure I'm understanding you. If you've got a directory full of doorway pages that do JavaScript redirects, I'd highly recommend removing that immediately. We've been improving our ability to find pages like that, and it's much better to remove it before we take action on it. :)

GG, is there anything than can be done to get a site out of obscurity after a 301 redirect? Seems to be a hot topic and there is a lot of conjecture floating around about what works and what doesn't… some report great success others say it took 6+ months… any help would be greatly appreciated.

May not be an update going on but my (white hat) site has gone again, for all keywords from page 1 to page 4+

Just recovered from bourbon too, now similar symptoms eg shows on page 4 for "my unique site name"

Oh well, here we go again...

Sometimes I love Google. It keeps me young, going strong and retains my blood pressure in "everflux" ...

It's possible that an update started but for technical reasons it had to be postponed. Yesterday all the data centres were showing my updated backlinks, but today many of the data centres have gone back to the previous back link counts. Maybe the proper update will start once the back link updates have been fully completed.
