Today whole site has disappeared from Google, NOTHING in cache, NOTHING indexed, NO referals.
1) I saw the Fresh Tag on index page on 6th May
2) Index not in Cache on 8th may
3) Whole site about 300 Pages out of Google / completely disappeared, nothing in cache.
Can this be a Sudden Death Penalty? what could be the possible reasons?
I can rule out that BAD links is not at all a problem.
Grey and still backlinks I'd vote for a manual penalty.
It went all of sudden, NO symptoms like missing Cache for longer period, No Fresh Bots, No Crawls etc!
Its a shame on Google that one of the most updated and clean site on that region is booted for no reason.

I've no idea why, it seems only to be affecting the index page.
do the following:
do a site search [site:domain]
if no results then search do the same search on the other data centers. try search on www2.google.com, www3.google.com. also try the other data centers. do a search here what the google data center ip addresses are.
=> if you find your site in some and not on other datacenters, then you may be caught in between updates.
=> if you find your site through the site:domain search, check whether you're listed as url-only, i.e. no snippests or titles. in this case, hope this is only temporary
=> if no results, do a [site:domain rareword] where rareword is a keyword that you know exists in most of your pages. this query could possible show whether your pages have been classified as supplementals. nobody knows how to correct this if it happens.
don't jump to the conclusion that there is a filter.
Your site dropped Ranking drastically to nothing or Your index page was outta Google database?
and of course, we forgot the obvious. if your server was down the last time googlebot visited, then you definitely will be completely out of the index.
if you are getting crawled now, then your site will eventually appear again.
this happened to me when google was still updating once a month. at least now, pages can get in much sooner.
If the template is not your own design, then is it possible it may have something like hidden text or hidden links -- that you did not notice?
Cloaking, if being done, would cause this -- but surely you would know about that.
You speak only of the template, but where does the actual content come from? If it is copied from elsewhere on the web (or vice versa), then conceivably the Page Rank may have been shifted from one clone (yours) to another.

This is our OWN originally Designed Template, and to give the site a consistant look, we use it.
How can you say that its been used by other sites?

Since Website is done 100% by us only, the possibility of hidden text or ****ty things is ruled out.
I still suspect that its a Manual removal.
FYI, this site was on 1st page for some majr KW, where the other 9 sites were mostly Information and government sites.

I know that many travel sites pull the info from the same database with different templates. If your site is not one of those, e-mail google I guess.

Take off the tinfoil hat. If an actual instance of that ever was publicized, Google would be toast, the world's largest dead server farm. If it ever happened, what would be the chance some employee would let it slip? And google can't just change their Domain Name and start over like some dodgy doorway-domain spammer. Everyone knows where they live.
It is noways worth the risk. Only a company that doesn't value it's reputation could afford that...and this is Google, not SCO.

I pray you were true! because then I would be in the position to think..what exactly went wrong.
I am more worried about tha fact that ALL happened so suddenly. We have seen big portals sinking down but the carry some symptoms.
Anybody seen GG around last days?
I checked some of the backlinks shown through Google. Seems like a few similar looking, similar content, all owned by the same company (your company?) are linking to it. Could it be some crosslinking penalty imposed after some competitor complained? (Google didn't show most of the links. Wondered what type of links those were.)
Google rarely does manual removals and your site just doesn't seem to fit the bill for an international event to have them remove it.
Look at the crosslinks with your dupes and you will find your answer.
I've seem the exact same thing happen many times and anybody who has visited this board for a while has to.
It is as simple as that.
I had a very bad experience with Google efen after having MOST natural linking.
Yes my few sites Link to it, but they are altogeather on a different IP, plus NO linking for the sake of Linking.
I am keeping far from those SAME WEBMASTER dodgy Linking for last several months.
As far as the Complaint of Compititor goes, it again raise the issue ... CAN SITES BE REMOVED MANUALLY?
On top of it, I guess ppl. in Google have enought brains to discern well.
I am pretty sure that I do not have a Duplicate Content on my other sites which are linking to this one!
+ Its on altogeather a Different IP
+ almost No Crosslinking from my other sites , FYI I have 4 more sites which are on totally different focus.
+ This site has enough of Unique Content and regular updations.
Please avoid to visualise the scene where Webmasters have 100s of Travel Portal over similar subject and they interlink eachother.

Seriously talking, I am still not able to digest any of the logic to say that this site is penalised for Linking/Dupe/use of Template/etc.
Being very precautious already about all these factors, I would say this is the most holy.

Trsut me, its not because of Linking from my own sites, as they are only 5 more...and almost negligible crosslinking.
I can Sticky the URL of other sites if somebody wants.
Any light on this new Observation?
