I am seeing -fi results on Yahoo! for one of my search results. And yes, I am positive!

GG:

So Google is actually going to go LIVE with the current sj/fi?

Please tell me when so I can go on vacation.

Anon27, I would expect so. I don't know when, so I can't give vacation advice at this time. :)

GG: can you shed any light on why you have two, relatively stable serps that are very different ... is one for partners and one for www? or will one simply get ignored?

Thanks GG:

I all seriousness, the info you shared is important to me because I can anticipate a slowdown (halt) in business and I can address issues accordingly in my back office.

Thank you,

Dazz,

The reason you are wrong, (completely) is that the index is STILL showing baclinks that have not existing since February. This is why it's old, not just links not showing up anymore. BTW, not one link that is missing is reciprocal and some include ones from YAhoo PR 7 page and Dmoz Pr 6.

Happy to try to help, Anon27. roundabout, I can't shed any light on that at this time.

Well, from my stand point, all the hard work I have put into placing my site on the first page for all of my keyword and phrases has gone to the toilet.

The SERP's for my keyword and phrases on the -fi and -sj centers all look like they're from 3-4 months ago.

All this (in my opinion) is crap.

Googleguy:

Thanks for clarifying where you can. I'm one of the seemingly many people who's home page has disappeared from the SERPS on -sj and -fi, although subsidiary pages are still there.

As well, -sj and -fi seem to reflect the links from a couple of months ago, with straightforward links (like from Google directory) no longer showing.

It's very peculiar, and people are annoyed, depressed, or worse, and completely baffled that -sj may become the published index on www.

Can you elaborate in any way?

Thanks.
L

Guys - just think of what the web would look like if Google never altered its Algo. All of the first few pages of results would be filled with sites with this pattern:

HUGE HEADER FONTS
keywords, keywords, keywords, keywords...
A tacky picture (if that)
MORE HEADER FONTS
Link Directory to hundreds of garbage sites

Good job Google! I do see that some of this excessive header (obnoxious yelling) spam is being filtered out! Though some of our ranks are down for unknown reasons at this time, all in all, I like what I see!

If its on yahoo... yes I think it will be published google live.
The guys at google appear to have hit the back button?
By 3 years
It's ok saying backlinks blah blah will take effect...but when. Links are not counted, relevance is not counted, PR is ignored, ALta la Vista baby.

Oh well, seen it b4... Here comes AV revisited.

Ltribe, I expect more pages and backlinks to be brought in with time.

In the mean time google shows the ~~ on partner sites, is that not risky.

I always try to be .... shall we say informative, but different results would make my position impossible to explain. So which is the best search engine?

make your mind up google, ditch them or embrace them...you are playing a risky strat.

steve128, every index is better at different things. The index on sj is often better for topical queries such as SARS, for example. I think many of the people who object to the sj index don't like that the backlinks are a little older. That's something that most users don't notice or care about, plus we'll be bringing in fresher backlinks over time, so SEOs will eventually be happier too.

Have the spam filters been removed on -sj and -fi?

I noticed a number of sites while doing test queries which have obvious spam in the page. Such as paragraphs of repeated words of white text on a white BG... and these sites are showing up in the top 5.

Also seeing alot of sites that are not as relevant as they should be or used to be for the top 10 results.

ulounge:

That is the flavor of SJ and FI.

Good content sites are gone, spam is in... for the most part.

GoogleGuy has said repeatedly that spam filters have yet to be added. He has said they WILL BE ADDED.

Some recent posts from GG -

1 - I wouldn't be surprised to see SJ show up at other data centers first, and then to start applying the newer data/filters after that.

2 - Once that data appears more broadly, we'll gradually be pulling in more backlinks and applying other data.

3 - I expect more pages and backlinks to be brought in with time.

hmmm.... I'm pretty new to SEO, so correct me if i'm wrong, but after reading several undred post on Update Dominic, IMO it seems like, -sj is going to show accross the other datacenters, and, when that has been done... other data, backlinks and filters are going to be applied.

Have I grasped it so far? or have i missed something obvious?

GG.

you're taking some heat right now. on results that aren't even live yet and that you have mentioned that are still subject to more adjustment as the days go on..

actually you;ve said it a number of times.

you don't have to be here trying to help, and even after some pretty harsh posts on -sj/-fi and the time it's taking to update, you just keep hanging in there.

you're either a masochist, or a very good natured fellow.

Search for "efactory" on google.
The first SERP has them.

webdev, I think almost all of these questions have been answered several hundred threads ago. As late as this morning, I posted saying that I expected sj/fi index data to make its way to other data centers and to various sites. Once that data appears more broadly, we'll gradually be pulling in more backlinks and applying other data.

Load of rubbish....show me the thread that says why this is going live if its not finished...you've been saying for days SERPS will change.....as yet nothing and NO reasoning as to why...if you gave a incling as to why this is happening it would help a lot of people.

Its simple I want to know if I need to start optimizing for other things than Bretts post so that I don't have to go through this rubbish again.

and...where's the thread saying the standard dance that we have all been used to is going to be the norm in the future....I don't see it

and....no offence but why post anything at all if its all cryptic nonsense....anything you have added here is wait and see with no explanation....well thats not too hard to do on my own without all this maybe it will maybe it wont rubbish...

...might be a game to some people on here but to others its our kids education and I'm getting very p1ssed off with this crap....

Flame me with all the Google don't owe you anything posts or its a risky business....SO WHAT.....all I want to know is why following their guidelines isn't working....whats the big bloody secret....

Not everyone can be on page 1!

People seem to think they have an automatic right to be high in the SERPS and go banana's if their site drops down a few pages.

GG has said about 1 million times...yes the -sj will go live on www eventually BUT they will be adding new backlinks in over time.

The -sj index is fine to google and more importantly their USERS!

some SEO's seem to forget this sometimes!

So you obviously don't have any problems with this index or are you just kissing butt.

I've saids time and time again I not moaning about positioning I'm moaning about WHY what we are told to do does not work, but 1 page crap spam does....

Oh and the world will come to an end one day but I won't say why when or how.....pointless isn't it.
