you wouldn't happen to mean this [static.wc.ask.com]?
Start diggin' into your money dump... ;)
Sure glad we are already listed. Weekly crawling would be the advantage, but not enough for our news sites, so not changing over at this point. (I say changing over becuase we cant afford to particpate in both Inktimi and Teoma!)
That's not to say it wont be done. If it is we lose one more truly relevance based search engine.. and back to AlltheWeb, google, and Wisenut in a dwindling field.
chyio, I respectively question why many are always including Wisenut in the "relevance" category?
I certainly do not feel that listings that have not been updated (for months) are relevant. How can they be? Content changes, new pages and new websites created, but Wisenut has been showing the same results almost since their launch. Not only that, but the site ranking (results order) has remained unchanged as well.
First five listings are "Sponsored links" from Overture.
Listings that follow are "search results" from Teoma.
There's a "submit a site" link on the bottom of the AJ page that takes you to the pay-for-indexing program.
I'd say AJ has guts asking $30 for the 1st listing and $18 for each additional listing when they're going to bury your Teoma listings under a thick blanket of Overture.
This will be a "wait and see" for me. I doubt there will be a stampede to pay that kind of money for a second rate placement on a second rate engine.
Cant comment on freshness, but still looks good on our own test-kit of keyword phrases we use to test relevancy.
Not quite as good as Teoma/Google/AlltheWeb, but I think i would put them in the same category still, as there is a big gap between that group and the rest.
Based only a small subset of tests. We only test for 2 and 3 word phrases, as using just one keyword seems to be on the way out as users become more sophisticated, and indexes get bigger. Also we only test terms related to our sites and some general academic and business type phrases. So as always happy to be set straight by others.
I holding off making any judgements about Teoma until we see a larger db. Is it there already? Doesn't feel like it to me. At 150'ish million pages, that's in the minor league stuff compared to the other three. I also am trying to reserve judgement until they get fully AJ'ized. AJ doesn't have a _real_ track record yet in the pure search field and with mountians of debt apparently pilling up, the heat is on them to produce. How that is all going to affect Teoma is yet to be seen. I hope they can put it all together to be another top notch engine.
I don't know how they got there. I didn't put them there. I haven't been watching my log for a Teoma spider, though.
Maybe they got a copy of some other SE's database.
A newer site (4 mos old) is nowhere to be found in Teoma.
