I have outgrown my current hosting situation and will be upgrading it soon. This will result in my two sites (same ip right now) both having new ips.
What are the top 10 things I need to do to keep Y, G and MSN happy? What is the protocol here?
Quite frankly, MNS, Google and Yahoo picked up the change within one day. It took ASK a bit longer (maybe three days).
Matt Cutts of Google has also posted in his blog on this very topic. You might want to look at his recommendation (which basically includes keeping the old site up and running).
get new site up and running parellel to old site.
change dns.
verify spidering of new site.
turn off old site.
I am impressed by the SE's if this is case.
I figured G would get chapped because of a weeks worth of dupe content being on two different IPs.
Amazing how they can get this right .. but not other things.
