Yahoo has indexed my more recent pages, but isn't caching them.
All my pages are indexed, with that I have no problem, however if I search for "my keyword" using Yahoo.co.uk with the UK search, there I am, top of the pile, switch it to the Web and yes, there I am again:-)
Now if I open a different browser altogther and access Yahoo.com and enter "my keyword"...blahhhh...nowhere to be found in the first couple of pages even for 100% exclusive products, it just seems to serve totally unrelated USA results until it gets to mine.
So, is Yahoo! geo-targeting in an unsophisticated way?
Not necessarily so therefore I am going to transfer some of my domains to a US-based server to test my hypothesis.
One thing I have noticed is that they seem to be spidering quite quickly these days and updating that information so hopefully I should know the results within the next couple of weeks or so.
Has anyone else tested and seen similar results to mine?
I had a client who was getting smoked for very easy and uncompetitive niche terms, while g and msn were fine, we did paid inclusion and BOOM came back in, high ranks with minimal changes to content. Intersting.
The Yahoo hits from one site I started last June are just starting to appear now.
Hits from a site I started in Jan this year are totally 0.
Slurp visits everyday using my bandwidth and the appropiate commands show the site as being indexed - Yahoo say there is no penalty - it mkes the google sandbox look like a playpit in comparison!

That I think may hold the answer to my yahoo troubles. There's talk about such a thing as a "total demotion penalty."
Asking Yahoo just elicits a rubbish "try for more links" response.
Dont really know what the answer is.
The lady at Yahoo said: there are no current indications that your pages have been blocked from the Yahoo! index.
Here's what I asked:

I have many quality inbound links, i wonder why ranking in Yahoo is so different?
we try to stay away from specific search terms (read the TOS). But since you did include them, let me say that getting a load of links from forums is hardly quality links. You didn't even register any backlinks from Google in the search I did.
Just because your site isn't top for your phrase doesn't make Yahoo bad. In fact, I think Google and MSN have been 'gamed'.
More serious is EFV's point about big sites dominating. This has actually been my anger about Google over the past 6 months - epinions, rateyourmusic, amazon, amazon, amazon. Our viewpoint does depend on the area our websites are aimed at. In music, I would rate Yahoo as the best quality but it may not be in travel.
I was being a little provocative with my post. Sorry for that, but your reply does kind of support my thesis in that your strategy is to get the best links for Search Engine ranking rather than allow the sheer quality of your content to generate natural links like Google imply they want. But, hey, I have done the same with some of my sites.
If you check my new topic in this forum you will see that I have today found Yahoo to be lightening quick on picking up links. Yahoo is a strange beast, once it likes you then it really likes you.
