Yet another update to SERP's

When is Yahoo going to figure out that their best results are simply the unfiltered ones?! This update seems to be a step in the right direction but what kills some spam brings in more spam. Doesn't ever seem to make sense. Why update if you can't improve the search experience? Please read a page out of Google's book or for that matter even MSN's. Yahoo, I'm sorry, but your results don't seem to reflect top authority sites anymore. Anybody can just spam your algo and get listed it seems.

Yahoo latest update is nothing but TRASH. Most of the spammy sites have taken over. Get inbounds in 100’s, 1000’s, no 1000000000000’0 and Yahoo just loves them. The only logic is an inbound link. Not matter how and from where, it has to be from a page that is online. 5% of the results could be just OK due to these sites not being updated in Yahoo. Once the update is over, expect 100% TRASH. We work on about 12 sites currently some win, some lose but overall looking at Yahoo results i would say they are very good.

In fact better than Googles results.

Yes some large sites rank well but then again they may well be full of related content and they rank the same on Google to the search term. At least affiliate directory sites are not cleaning up at Yahoo like they are on Google.

Also, this update is Yahoos best by far, a real good cleaning up exersize, we see no doorways, multi named duplicate sites, sites that had subdomain-area1-site, subdomain-sare2-site cr@p anymore have also gone from the results

Im seeing far more positive factors about these results than negative. They have come a long way

Your post regarding back links.

Unless Yahoo introduce a page rank system (they may have that we dont know about) it looks like a link on a google PR3 page is worth the same as a link on a google PR8 page but whos to say thats wrong?

Frankly we dont want Yahoo to be Google but googles PR system isnt that good either. A site with money behind it can buy its high PR back links with Google and if Yahoo is treating all sites as equal to start with thats not a bad thing.

If more backlinks are required, improve your content and encourage more sites to link to you. If its having a large content site, then increase the amount of content you carry about your subject.

Any sane person.

Links from any site considered more important by the search engine should be valued more highly by that search engine. A link from a blog comment is not as valuable as a link from the Yahoo main page.

I can see your chain of thought however, you might get a blog dedicated to widgets with links to particular widget sites and on the other hand a large corporate chucks a load of cash at advertising on Yahoos home page

We dont want the net to become biggest pockets take all. Its bad enough as it is.

Yes, when will they re-include missing sites.

Changed a non-www to www on 2 sites in late October. MSN and Google got it right in a few days and few weeks respectively. And they never took it out of the index.

Yahoo, well, two sites have been out since I changed 'em in Oct. Can't understand how that's a hard part of an algo to get right, especially when upstart MSN's doing it without problems.

C'mon Yahoo, you should be better than this by now.

What fustrates me about this update is that top sites for serps we montior all are buying links and dropping links in guestbooks. Real crappy stuff!

...well Yahoo come on, not only the SERP are not good, they are not getting better, they are getting worst , IN ADDITION they take forever to be refreshed

Regarding Yahoo and its update. When exactly is there going to be another update to their organic search index?

I changed servers with all new url's strings etc....about 2 1/2 months ago. Yet all my results indexed are from the old site. The domain name is the same.

Is yahoo always this slow? Is there anything I can do to get them to update and index my url's etc....?

Yahoo does a very poor job to update their database, which makes their # of crawled pages meanless.
