Yahoo Update?

Been seeing various changes across a lot of serps.

Some areas have pretty crappy results (IMO) that are mostly large directory type sites, but my site is up there with all the other crap. Not sure if that is good news. hehe.

My site has completely disappeared from yahoo. Had been stuck on the 3rd page of the serps for a while anyways, but still pretty disappointing.

Every day I get a little more convinced Yahoo doesn't know why either.

It is sad to see for my site, Yahoo is returning URL only listings without cache or description. But looking closer it is showing "Title Only". I couldn't stop but laugh on seeing wrong Title for few pages. Like, "weve got it!", where the actual Title is entirely different. Weird.

I've checked one set of serps 5 times in the last 2 hours. Results keep changing, backlinks keep changing for my own site.

If this is a "dance", fine. But, in the last few months, yahoo seems a bit schizo.

For all the keywords in my industry, blogspot spam holds 95 out of 100 results. CRAZY!

This must explain why we saw as disscussed earlier this week the .co.uk results showing .com results which they still do and perhaps this will revert back after this update.

Ok - back with some thoughts - not just posting on the spur of the moment :)

Last time Yahoo had a big(ish) update my main site page count dropped considerably - only to go up in a couple of days time.

This looks like it might be happening again.

So Yahoo might not have a full index out there at the moment.

Softwareengineer99 did some searches to check Google index size against Yahoo with the following results on 22nd August:-

If you do these searches at the moment you will see that Yahoo perhaps have either introduced a massive filter - or the full index is not live.

With Webmasterworld only having 46,000 odd pages indexed I think it is more likely the whole index is not live at the moment.

Although I might just be hopping :)

I see serp changhing every hour....
The big change is in the link command: a lot less links for very site.

It's difficult to say what is happening. I think it's a temporary movement because the index is not so fresh.

It seems to me that serp is not based on page optimiztion, but primarly on links.

I see sites that are ranking fine because they did a good link popularity one years ago.
It's like Yahoo is indexing sites considering the link popularity movements...

The quality is not so good: no fresh results, still several real spammer sites.

I've lost backlinks, indexed pages and dropped to noware for my main term, I really hope that its not over.

I dont think it is over.
The rule of thumb is, if you have played by their rules you should be ok in the end, yes you may disappear and reappear several times in the serps over times, but as other webmasters been in the game for nearly 10 years will tell you.
It is a roller coaster ride on the search engines with highs, lows, misery and good times.
Hang in there and you will be OK in the end.

I like to think this way too. The lack of stability kills me. This month you can make X amount of money and engage in several site improvements and development and the next month you can make 10 times less and get left in the air.
With all of this Earth to Moon fluctuations (on all SEs) there is just no environment of development, well for a small biz like mine.

Just lost all top 10 rankings for 3 money keywords I had. I am noware to be found and the new results are just garbage.
It looks like they are missing a big part of the database.

I see "Results 1 - 10 of about 28,100 for Keyword". Usually there are about 650,000 sites...

From what I see it’s like a HUGE Hurricane at Yahoo search as well. Complete Dismemberment of the SERP. Pages that Ranked, Authority Sites and Established Sites are on page 10. Everything else is just ready for holiday Shopping.

There is definatly a dance going on.

Different search results.

Different results for pages listed from site.
We are getting a lot of page listings with just the url as the title.

Even stranger is that we see alot of this for pages from site return:

our title
mysite.com/http://rds.yahoo.com/S=96857362/K=keyword+keyword

Are they crawling there own search results?

Yes, it seems that we don't see the full index.
One of my sites site is on the old place but its url can't be found in the index.

It is a dance alright. SERPS changing all the time but always having one thing in common. That being there complete irrelevance to the query.

What I am also seeing between the two different results:

Result set 1: This is the incomplete index. Results that normally have over ten million results only have a couple hundred thousands. This index we are missing and is returning crappy results.

Result set 2: Normal page returns and apprears to show a positive change in SERPS. Looks like the completed updated index.

Your right about the index.
Just typed in a generic keyword we used to rank in the top 5 and normally the results are out of 2.5 million - now down to 655,000 results.

It aint over by a long chalk.

thecityofgold2005 - you have it perfecly right! I searched for about 10-15 search terms and noted not one pulled a relevant website. Seems they are giving good play to brand new websites and stale old websites rather than giving the constantly updated, fresh, relevant websites good rankings.

I am begininning to hate Yahoo. Thank God for Google!

Getting shocked after seeing the results of Yahoo! from my sites, I ran to WW to see if it was only me. Anyway, I found that the number of search results for some keywrods I tried have dropped SHARPLY.

By the way, Yahoo! does not show the same search results for all searchers. I think it shows different results depending on which country you are surfing from. (I'm not sure if this has already been discussed here, for I'm not a frequenter of this forum.)

I just checked my site - I had 400 indexed pages before, and now I'm down to only 13 pages indexed only with no index page at all in the database, what is going on! Anyone expericing this?
