Its got me thinking what it could mean too...
Maybe its related to the fact that it moves your website "Off Computer Screens" that use Y! I think its nothing other than an "Outrageous Censorship System", simply because Y! don't really want "Optimised Competitive stuff" in their index.
wasnt my catch though, it was helenp..
[webmasterworld.com...]
In fact an site I reported for days ago, has OCS=188176 but shows up in serps, actualizing the index will thell if that number of OCS means excluding.
If you check for http:www.yahoo.com and google.com you will se they have an OCS with another number, suposed that number means authority site...
webmasterworld donīt ave any OCS.
SS as far as I seen meens that site is in directory.
Anybody knows how I could have an hit from yahoo with keywords when it donīīt have yahoo.search as referer?

I think R=4 means that my site was 4th on the list, if so, oh my god, in google I donīt think anybody finds my site with such keywords without mention the city.
normally itīs like this

75192 is the same as google and yahoo and (other sites with search engine optimation and design, I think after researched)
75192 is the category? or authority site?
what is your site about?
maybe my OCS means travel?
but only some few travel sites has OCS=188176
Maybe your sites got reviewed and is accepted.
Anyway the most sites donīt have OCS so must meen something special.
I donīt have sitematch (to expensive) or directory listing.
Edited: No canīt be category, famous search engine is out of serps and has same as me OCS=188176
I guess the Google backfill was keeping me on Yahoo but I'm loathe to even try sitematch with things the way they are - looks too much like russian roulette.
No idea if website building relates to that number or not. Come to think of it, I'm not sure if theres anything to glean from the string as to whether a site is penalised or not. It does seem odd to be so buried inside the directory with an ancient URL and not even exist in the serps.
Is it Yahoo dropping sites or is it the dreaded INK ban with no recourse? From what I glean from other posts, with a ban you can part with money through sitematch and lose it. You also seem to have little chance of actually discovering WHY you've been dropped and thats where the entire process is falling over at the moment.
Some of the most useful sites around I can no longer find on Yahoo so presumably they too have suffered a similar fate. Just how all this will resolve itself I don't know but its hardly a great ad for Yahoo. Its also dire for the user too.
But no way that OCS 188176 means tpenalized.
Actually I think that the OCS number is an canalization for categories, think could be from Dmoz.
I checked for travel europe, and all sites I seen with OCS number had number 188176, went to DMOZ and checked two sites without OCS number, and these two sites were not listed in DMOZ.
Then I checked travel USA, and all sites not in yahoo directory or in DMOZ had OCS 188733, sites in yahoo directory had OCS 158437.
I do not think the OCS is ip based though my site is about europe, but hosted in USA,
So I think the OCS maybe could be DMOZ regional categories.
Site was in INK, AltaVista, MSN, and ATW for almost 3 years and doing fine. Site has had no changes besides addition of content in the past year (went through a redesign a year ago). Was always crawled daily by slurp and yahoo slurp when they changed over.
Just thankful Google traffic has picked up the slack that was lost with Yahoo and MSN.
Oh yeah, it also is listed in Yahoo directory.
Does not have the OCS and it is listed in DMOZ.
shows as: rds.yahoo.com/S=96062852/K=URLwords/v=2/TID=F271_45/SID=w/l=DS1/R=1/TR=17/SS=96366693/*-http://www.domain.com/
Same situation with me. I can find bits and pieces of six sites that were dropped but when using the url:http://www. command it comes up empty, no listing found. Three of them are still listed in the directory. They were not Site Match, but were PFI through inktomi. Had good placements ever since Yahoo switched over from Google results, everything was quite stable then Monday night they were just pulled out.
I cant think of any reason except some of the sites were about similar topics; Duplicate content penalty? If thats it boy there guidelines are brutal, they were unique sites all offering different information. Anyone have advice on how best to reach out and appeal this? I did send an e-mail to 'webmasterworldfeedback@yahoo.com', but nothing yet. I do have other sites, that are still there.
Not worried about penalties, nothing on the site or it's backlinks could provoke a penalty. Funny thing is for a couple weeks before their Yahoo Shopping bot was crawling the heck out of it daily also - this is NOT a shopping site.
Sad to see them do that because I was happy to see Yahoo coming back as a major player using their own results.
We have the same situation, disappeared from SERPS where we were previously in top 3 or 4, 1st page.
We do have a lot of 301's but they are pretty old now.
add in:
On a conspiracy note could these drops have anything to do with having adsense on the sites?
FYI the drop seem to occur 1st May and Y still has some 20K pages in its index when search by site.
A search for "www.mysite.com.au" returns nothing... however a search for "mysite.com.au" returns several listings under an old subdomain no longer in use - since replaced by a redirect.
In short, "www.oldsubdomain.mysite.com.au" is indexed, however "www.mysite.com.au" is not.
"www.mysite.com.au" has a Y! directory listing and plenty of links pointing to it from other indexed sites as well as ink PFI listings.
Is this drop a penalty based on Y! believing that our original site is duplicate content of the old subdomain redirect site?
I can remove the subdomain all together, however it will mean that the yahoo listings we have would cease to work. Please help, have exhausted my brain trying to figure Y! out!
