Me neither, it showed a web rank of 10 on the yahoo homepage two days ago but nothing since then.

I got the web rank version via Milamber's link, would the web rank not be working properly because the beta group was already full when I downloaded it?

2_much, I know what you mean, I'm cautious about software that phones home too, but with these toolbars it's an extra way to notify search engines about pages on your sites that they haven't picked up yet.
So it's win-win as far as I can see ;)

I don't think I would want to download the toolbar with WebRank. My experience with Google's toolbar has jaded me from wanting to ever download toolbar's that phone home.

What exactly was the negative issue with Google's Toolbar? Ofcourse with the "phone home" feature you give a lot of personal info (preferences, demographics etc). Particularly if you use Autofill with ALL your personal data (name, address, CC info etc). Was it more than you expected?

Also long as you disable PageRank view, it won't communicate with Google anymore.

I've been running it for about a month or so on one my PCs and worked flawlessly for me. I spend a lot of time everyday searching the 'net so it's handy. I even installed the Google Compute part, to donate free CPU time to worthy causes.

But I won't fill-in the AutoFill stuff (name, address CC etc), although I would trust Google much more than I would trust e.g. Microsoft

From what I read here, Yahoo's toolbar, gets much more "personal" requiring a log-in to Yahoo.

With your own site as your homepage and these toolbars installed it sends positive feedback to Google/Yahoo about accesses to your site and if you use the toolbars to search for then clickthrough to your site, I believe it encourages more frequent crawling.IMHO

Make a search at Google for "yahoo webrank". The very first link gives you a tool to check a site's Webrank without having the toolbar installed.

It showed WR3 for my site, which is PR5 in Google.

The beta Version 5.4.9.0 downloaded from the link some posts earlier doesn't show ANY Webrank at all.

P.S. Webmasterworld won't let me paste the URL in here, regardless how I try to cite it - it gets scrambled with stars :-( Seems they have a blacklist for certain domain names. What's wrong with that special one?

That tool told me my site ie WR7 - the yahoo toolbar tells me its WR4

WR3 can not be equated to PR5. Google's PR is a measure of link popularity and WR is a measure of traffic.

WR vs. PR - of course you are right.

My Yahoo toolbar can't decide whether it shows grey (service unavailable) or yellow and claiming no page ever was ranked. Well, let's wait for the final version.

But on yahoo, oh my god, I am nowhere to find, penalized, but have an Pr of 7.........

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but if you press the check button on that tool a few times, it shows a different rank every time. For example, my site ranked, 0,1,6,7,and 10. Though I love that site, I wouldn't trust that tool.

Hmm.... you are right. Only if you use it with the default domain (which webmasterworld would blank out if I write it here) the WR stays the same after each "check".

Is it a hoax?

Btw: In the forum assigned to it, there is the assumption that the IP-address is geotargeted and that for that reason many users don't see any WR at all. I'm from Europe and not seeing WR at all. Anybody from Europe who DOES see WR?

I have been having the same problems on my toolbar :-( I am going to work with the companion team to get this sorted out. I will post as soon as we have more info.

I just did some experiments using several proxies based in the US. Still the beta-toolbar does not show any WR. So either they can detect that I'm using a proxy and have these "blacklisted", or it's NOT geotargetting but some other problem.

Let's wait and see :-)

I show WR4 for my site when checked at the site listed on Google, but can't get crawled by Yahoo! Not sure whats up with that. Never had trouble getting crawled by the engines....

Tim - whilst talking to them, maybe ask them about it - WR - not working at all behind a firewall/router, as others have commented?

Of course, once I discovered that it wasn't working I went off to get it installed on a dial-up laptop, but, by then, it had gone.

Started to work for the first time ever with the 5.4.9.0 only an hour ago. I'm using a popular DSL provider in central Europe, and I connect through a personal firewall.

There were several bugs that were reported in the beta program. If you are receiving random webrank numbers on URLs then you have an old version of the toolbar and without a newer version it will not work properly. The newest working version is 5.4.9.0. If you have this version and it still does not work please let me know.
