Welcome to this week's WebmasterWorld Weekly Round-up.

What's happening with Google updates right now? We're seeing reports of the SERPs swinging around quite a bit, which suggests Google's either testing something new, or is it data center swings. If it's the latter, we just need to let it settle. Find out more in our update thread.

We have an interesting thread about all SEO being unethical, whatever color hat worn. What do you think about the ethics of SEO. Is it unfair, unethical, or cheating? Join our thread on the topic.

Just a quick reminder: It's in the middle of holiday time so our updates are slightly shorter right now. In addition, WebmasterWorld Weekly will be taking a short break and will be back soon.

Let's take a look at a few of our hot discussions and news topics for the week.

Google update on, or off, or both. Importantly, what's actually changing: Panda, Penguin, or are we seeing the signals from Google's HTTPS ranking signal? Lets have your reports so we can try and assess the change and its impact. Google

WebmasterWorld Members were getting frustrated with Google apparently switching Google AdSense management home page from old to new, and back again. "Home Page Keeps Switching From New To Old"Google

Twitter continues to extend its advertising programes with news that, "Twitter Launches Beta Test Of Video Ads In Stream"

There was a major Internet outage in the last week and it seems it was primarily down to insufficient memory in high level routers. "Internet Outage Problems Caused By BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) Routing Tables Too Large"

There's an interesting addition to Bing search this week with news that "Bing Makes Code Search and API Reference Easier"

There was a domain stat that caught my eye this week, and I'm not sure if I should be surprised or not: "Only 3pct of New gTLD Registrations Being Used for Business Websites"

More news from Bing as it continues to add new features to its SERPs, and now with the addition of conversational search. "Bing Adds Conversational Search Responses To U.S. SERPs"

WebmasterWorld Members debate the reasons for and against developing and supporting older web browsers. At some point the market share will decline to the point of diminishing returns. How do you identify what the point in time is, and how do you handle the inevitable errors.

There was news this week that more link networks were hit by Google, "Google Takes Action On European, German Link Networks"

In a hot thread this week, WebmasterWorld Members discuss the idea that all SEO is unethical.

Expiring domains can sometimes catch us unaware. This example shows that even with an instant renewal it can take a month to return to the original Google rankings.

Google is shutting off the opt out option of close variant keyword matching. This means your exact match keywords will no longer be possible. Google

Thank you for joining the conversations, until next time...
