I’m hearing so much talk about the negative side of social media at the moment, and lots of it is about young people being influenced, negatively, by Internet and social media Trolls. Young people are often at greater risk of being affected by the Trolls that prey on them.
According to a recent study, published by the University of Michigan, young adults are feeling a reduced sense of wellbeing the more they used Facebook.
If this study is correct, and this is extrapolated to the wider population of youngsters, it’s a worrying trend for the future.
Personally, I find Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with friends, but it’s no substitute for face-to-face friendships, which I would encourage. Young people have grown up in a social media world, and I’m certain it’s had a great influence on many young people. I just hope it’s not a long-term negative effect, and young people will discover there’s much more to life outside of the online world.

According to reports,
Facebook plans to test a new payments product that would allow online shoppers to make purchases on mobile apps using their Facebook login information.
Google developers have confirmed a
cryptographic vulnerability in the Android operating system that researchers say could generate serious security glitches on hundreds of thousands of end user apps, many of them used to make Bitcoin transactions.
A team of security researchers this week exposed a
malware scam which inserted unauthorised adverts into Google's YouTube, taking money away from Google, from the advertisers, and the YouTube publishers. Google was not best pleased.
Internet users have been prevented from accessing hundreds of websites as a result of the U.K.'s Premier League battle with an unrelated copyright infringing service. It seems the
blanket block of IPs of the infringing sites meant that shared servers with innocent sites were taken down.
In a lawsuit, it appears, according top Google, that
Gmail users should have no "reasonable expectation" to confidentiality. What! When I read that I thought there was a mistake. It may have been taken slight out of context. What do you think?
