(Austin, TX - USA) WebmasterWorld.com, the web's highest trafficked super forum, has announced its next Internet Marketing Conference (aka Pubconference [pubcon.com]) in Orlando, Florida, USA. The three-day event, commencing on Thursday 26th February 2004, will feature four conference tracks covering Search Engine Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, Affiliate Programs and Site Ownership/Webmaster Technology issues.

Previous conferences have attracted more than a thousand delegates from around the globe, and according to conference organizer Brett Tabke, "After the early sell-out of our London conference in September 2003 we anticipate a similar heavy demand from around the world for places at the Florida event." There will be several keynote speeches throughout the event and ample opportunity for delegates to question and meet many of the world's leading search technology companies and executives.

The event is sponsored by major search and marketing firms, including Google, Overture, Yahoo, PositionTech and GoToast.

Argh! I would LOVE to go! I have the cash and time....hmm...Does anyone have experience in explaining to a spouse exactly what you do and why you might need a couple grand in February to go on a trip by yourself? hehe ;) Help! :) I have heard nothing but good stuff about these confs. If I go in February, I would be a PubCon virgin :0)

why you might need a couple grand in February to go on a trip by yourself

The first grand is for the pass, hotel and flight, the second to buy everyone down there a round of drinks :) or a nice gift for the wife to keep her happy at home, though she'd probably have a good time in Orlando too.

Skibum...I had thought about bringing my wife along, but it would be too hard cause she's in the middle of her Geological Engineering Masters at uni... :(

Brad, consider sending an email on this to forum members. Honestly, I missed this until I got a pm from another forum member. I'd hate to think that I missed this convention because I didn't catch it advertised on the top of the forum.

I expect I'll be going. On the strength of how good this forum is I have to believe this is going to be the most useful conference I'll have ever been to.

mivox don't worry about hot weather at the end of February it's not bad at all around here, 80 degrees max
(and everything has A/C if it goes over that)

weather history if you doubt me: 2001 [printer.wunderground.com] 2002 [printer.wunderground.com] 2003 [printer.wunderground.com]

I'm definitely in ... I think. That is if I'm not a bag lady again after this latest G update! On second thoughts ... maybe I'll wait until after next week to sign up ... after the results of the shake up are a known entity!

I signed up before this current dance and it looks like it was the perfect thing to for me.

Time to pull out all the old ideas and dust them off and see which ones sound good to the real pro's.

Indeed. My Dad lives in Florida, so I'm more familiar with the weather than I'd like... ;) But more than worth it to see all you folks!

You line up Madhuri, Mahima or Aishwariya, and I guarantee at least 20 members from the west will turn up for a chat ;)

'Fess up, mivox... Brett put you up to that... really pulling out all the stops to insure a sellout. ;)

Would anyone want to sponser me to go? :) I can pay with css.

So it's like a min of $750 plus pub money? Maybe I can sell a kidney on ebay. I can't believe I missed the Boston one. Hope you all have fun, unless I win the lottery, and then I'll buy a few rounds.

All the more reason to get to this conference and pick brains!

> she's in the middle of her Geological Engineering Masters at uni

I'll be there and I'm in the middle of a Master's degree, too! That's not a valid excuse.

> 'Fess up, mivox... Brett put you up to that...

I'm fairly certain he did not put her up to that. ;)

Flight and hotel all booked up, this will be PubCon no.3 for me, think of the US ones as my annual holiday now :)

Stretching this trip out to 7 days and hoping to catch the Orlando Magic and the Florida Panthers before the conference begins.

Booked conference, booked executive party suite at Clarion, already planning contents of liquor cabinet. Known to pack along a blender for mixing frozen concoctions that include liberal amounts of rum or tequilla. Anyone with a supply of little drink umbrellas please bring along the same for effect.

Considering this my declaration of independence from the practice of law. Anyone who cares to reduce the number of practicing lawyers (without resorting to homicide) is invited to participate in my education ;-).

Okay, although no one has posted about PubCon since I announced 5 days ago I am not going to take this personally, except to note that I have rejected Brett's initial offer of a full refund plus free airfare to Anchorage Alaska the week of PubCon.

A friendly heads up:
I just called to confirm my Clarion reservation and they had me booked for 3 days only, instead of the 5 days I booked.

I checked my reservations because I read a post by someone else at WW who had their reservation bungled.

Clarion's phone number is: 407-859-2711.

Signed up, ready to go, can't wait! I really enjoyed Boston, but it looks like Orlando is gonna be even better.

>> Now I just have to buy skimpy enough clothes to prevent heat stroke from the "lovely" Florida weather...

mivox - pack a swimsuit;) I'm looking at the itinerary, and those long lunch hours scream "pool side!" to this girl who's escaping the snow and cold for a few days.

Now If Google would just start paying me! Still waiting for my SEPTEMBER check.. then I might be able to scratch enough together... might still have to sell a spleen, but that's a small price to pay ;)

>>those long lunch hours scream "pool side!" to this girl who's escaping the snow and cold

Mona, my apartment is poolside, and there are people out there in the jacuzzi nightly in spite of this ultra-cold weather by Southern California standards.

What those long lunch hours are screaming to me is "Florida seafood." In February oysters *R* in season, and if anyone hasn't tasted Appilachicola oysters on the half shell with c0cktail sauce and horseradish they haven't lived! I lived in Tallahassee all through my "expecting" days, craved those daily and just about lived on them - plus vanilla cream donuts from Dunkin Donuts. Not to mention Florida grouper, mullet and those divine Gulf shrimp. There are "all you can eat" seafood buffets galore, and unless it's changed since back then Florida is literally a seafood glutton's delight.

I'm sitting here and thinking about how totally CHEAP this could be. It's under $200 round trip from Los Angeles, without even having to deal with the agony of LAX. And figuring on the possibility of splitting a room at reduced rates, how tempting can this get?
