The Don't Use The Search Engines They Say They Do

Findwhat.com will represent on their site that they have a large distribution network and that they portal with search engines such as CNET’s Search.com, Excite, Webcrawler, NBCi, MetaCrawler, Dogpile, Go2Net and Microsoft Internet Explorer Autosearch. Give them a call and see for yourself. Thank God I only deposited a mere $25.00 into an account I opened with them over a week ago. I gave them a call to verify the search engines they indicated they portaled with only to be told that they previously did portal with the above search engines, however, right now, there are pending negotiations but they were certain the negotiations were work out in their favor. I stated that if they were in "negotiations" and "negotiations were not final" that they should not be listing on their site that they portal with these search engines. Of course, they tried to talk right through the statement and to put me at ease by telling me they also portaled with hundreds of other "private" sites. Private?....meaning they could not tell me who they were. As I indicated to them, if they are private and I cannot verify them how do I know they exist. Well I was told I would know they existed by the amount of traffic that I would get. Well folks . . . I guess that means they really don't exist because the traffic is worthless. I use Google and everyone knows your traffic on Google is almost instant. I use Overture but am more satisfied with the clicks at Google. I had my FindWhat account up for a week before I received one single click. I am not able to generate reports at FindWhat to find out what keywords are being clicked on either...another sad problem.

My suggestion, run! Do not use FindWhat.

Findwhat's traffic volume is definitely lower than Adwords and Overture (and the ROI seems to be hit or miss depending on the industry). It is possible to run reports in Findwhat for clicks per keyword, I believe they call it the "keyword cost report".

BDavis,

Don't be so quick to judge.

Either you aren't doing it right or your particular vertical doesn't work well on Findwhat.

One of my campaigns on findwhat works incredibly well (better ROI and volume than what Overture or Google gives me). Typically, overture and google quality & volumes are better but findwhat is always acceptable and as I stated even better in some circumstances.

And you can most definitely find keyword click reports on findwhat. I generate these reports on Findwhat on a daily basis.

Our company received hundreds and hundreds of clicks from findwhat. Our ROI was definitely in negative integers. Zero conversion rate. We cannot explain why because we do very well on google and overture. Too bad for both us and them. We were hopeful at the start.
