With OV on a downward slide and networks like Looksmart not considered first tier is there another network in the wings ready to move into the mainstream and lock up a deal with one of the big networks?
It would seem the time is right for a network offering the old 1 cent PPC's and and letting the marketplace take care of the pricing on more competitive terms, and without the BHO's and Gator's of the world.
The problem is of course that a new PPC system can't get a big name portal until it has a lot of advertisers, and it can't get a lot of advertisers until it has a large portal partner.
catch 22 big time.
the only "potential" I can think of is Mirago in the UK, they are 80% of the way there, now just need that final helping before they are a force to be reckoned with.
whether that happens, who knows.

However, until they can pick up a big name partner as their main distributor, they are never going to be real players. And that would necessitate grabbing a customer from either Espotting or Overture. And that means that they will have to offer more money, which of course just simply isn't there.
The other possibility is for them to grow their own user base to the extent that they can claim to be a major traffic source in their own right. They are currently number 15 in the UK market. I think that they would need to make it into the top 10, along side the likes of Lycos and Freeserve to claim a large part of the PPC market, and thus a big partner.
