Advertisement for content based site

my question is ....is it worth to invest in ppc and other advertising programs for content based websites who do not sell product/service only give information or guidence...The revenue from adsense is it really going to compesate for advertisement expenses..also will there be any long term benefits in traffic after you stop any advertisement...

The web is replete with adwords advertisers driving clicks to their sites which are merely ad sense like links. These site view the their ad links as a form of content, and obviously get a higher average CPC click out from their pages than what they pay to bring in.

How can you say that the CPC will be higer than how much you pay to get traffic also their will less number of people who will actually click on the ads out of total arrived on the page
