TREVOR ROWLEY faced a common problem. How could he reach the tiny percentage of consumers who would be interested in his product? Rowley runs Postoptics, a small firm that has become Britain’s leading contact-lens mail-order business. Contact lenses are common, but not that common. Rowley says only 6% of the population wear them, and at any time only 3% of those are looking for a new pair.

always nice to see the mainstream press running stuff like this...

Espotting, a British firm that provides listings for the likes of Yahoo, MSN and Ebay, says paid search is ideal for small firms because it allows them to advertise on equal terms with larger national companies.

Erm....?

Yahoo, MSN and Espotting all kept that very quiet. Can't say that I saw it coming either. You would think that Yahoo swapping back to Espotting would be big news, but on the same day as MSN? Wow.

LOL

Good article Shak. A couple of errors though!

This part was quite interesting:

>...has also done well with Espotting and Overture, but has been less successful with Google. He thinks this could be because [site x] already appears high on Google’s main listings, and customers may be put off when they see two links on the same page.

Does anyone else think that this is the case?

I don't believe it matters one whit, I have the same situation; if anything it might help. Certainly has not hurt either my sales or CTR on my ads, or unpaid listing at google.com
