We are planning to target local areas related to our business and have been considering options like - City Search, Yelp... apart from regular Search engines. What's your take on these local engines/groups in case you have used them?
The response (clicks and not conversions) from the local engines has been exceptionally good as compared to local targeting by G. I can track the G visitors using G.A. but there is no traffic from these local engines registered in G.A (though the response is better from local engines). I must mention that the conversion can happen at the local engines ( because of the kind of set up we have) and the visitor may not have any reason to visit our website. But then how should I check for valid clicks from these engines with limited tracking functionality?
(3) What are the other options we have in local engines other than City Search, Yelp....
(4) In terms of branding and promotion, who have better market penetration - local engines or biggies like G,Y,M in areas like NY,CA,TX.
I would appreciate if anyone would like to share their knowledge of partnerships these local engines have with other prominent engines. Example - If you check the bottom navigation on CitySearch homepage - you would find these partners -
Bloglines - ............ - Excite-..............- Insider Pages - IWon ---------- Pronto.
The whole idea is to better manage the effectiveness of the campaign with a very localized target audience.
Thanks.
