I must admit that I have been throwing dollars at search engines based on the hierarchy of reputation of popularity - Google, Yahoo! and MSN. I recently stopped advertising with MSN because of various reasons. I have remained advertising with Google and Yahoo! for the meantime.
My question is... what search engine (if any) delivers the best value? meaning, has reasonable cpc and estimated clicks. I generally compare the estimates provided by Google, yahoo! and now ask.com (trying something new) and try to see which one would be most effective allocating most of my budget to.
The huge issue I have been running into is the fact that I am providing some medium scale advertising services for clients and have a hard time justifying $6 clicks when the total profit from their product might be $40 and it takes 20 clicks to get a sale. Its really a loose situation. Or, on the other hand, simply trying to make room for larger profit by finding more clicks at a lower cpc.
I know I am all over the place. My apologies. But we must all admit that SEM/PPC becomes extremely complicated when locating the highest value for ourselves or a client.
I would really appreciate some opinions, especially experience in advertisers who have really attempted to locate the best value in search engines to advertise with.
Thank you for your responses in advance.
