Hello,

I have a small site that I advertise with overture and adwords. I might get 40-70 people a day. I am wondering what is the cheapest or best way to increase that number somewhere around 1000. Links? PPC? Advertising?

Currently it is cost prohibitive to do it with adwords and overture just doesn’t work well at all for me. I am new to PPC engines, etc so any idea on how to get this done and a rough cost for it would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

the best way is to get raw links to your site so you can increase your traffic, while getting listed higher in search engines.

The hard part is getting links to the site. Moste sites of related content would be competitors. It is a niche site.

I am attempting to get links. I have even considered purchasng links but I dont have a clue where to start on that or how to do it.

Try reciprocal links and webrings, maybe some niche directories / small search engines.

Niche sites are, in my experience, the easiest to get links to.

Having some good content is the place to start. Then, think a little outside the box.

Selling buttons? Write about the history of buttons and then get links from sites dealing with history and textiles and such.

Write an article about why sports coats have 3 buttons on the sleeve, and then get links from sites dealing with etiquette. (They were originally there to keep men from wiping their mouths on their sleeves - by order of one of the French kings if memory serves me right.)

Write about the original tortoise shell buttons and segue into how modern synthetics have helped to save endangered species. Get links from sites dedicated to the preservation of turtles.

Get the idea?

Remember also its not just about quantity, its also quality.

You could get 100 visitors a day, and 4 of them buy something (4% conversion rate), but you could get 1000 visitors a day and only 10 of them buy (1% conversion)

To generate the traffic, optimization and search engine submission is best. PPC is not permanent and now a days most of the ppc are proved as frauds and you can not rely on them.

Best way is to optimize the website and submit to the free search engine and directory as much you can.

I know this is time consuming job but it is my experience that it works on long term.

I've had better success with a small ad in a trade magazine that all the PPC's combined. It's a slow way to 1000 visitors a day, but the money is better spent. You can try some niche directories too. One that I use just happens to print a monthly magazine too.

If you aren't getting good enough results from AdWords and Overture, maybe you can tweak them a bit. I just think that most other PPC's are a waste of money.. they've been that for me. That's not to say there aren't good one's, but if you aren't getting the results you want already, take a look at what you're doing before you start spending more money.

Have you submitted your products to Froogle? It took a while, but I am getting traffic from there, and it's free. You might list a few products on e-Bay to draw traffic to your site. Do you have a catalog? You can get it posted and get more free traffic.

Try a free banner exchange program. We use (but are in no other way associated with) showyoursite.com and are very happy with the exposure.

This type of advertising does nothing for SEO, but it does provide brand awareness and some visitors.

Just submitting to as many directories or searchengines as you imagine can also get your site banned. Google principally doesnt like spammers.
