Msn Search (beta) implemented on msn.com(?)

Looks like a new clean layout.

SeventiesMartin, is it sticking or are they flipping back and forth from the new to the old?

very exciting to see this! perhaps we are looking at them making it live across all the MSN sites over the next few days? Or am I being optimistic? lol

Funny to see that something as the homepage of msn differs from place to place. I can still see the new msn page from home, just a couple of km from here at work, there I saw the regular page.
Looks like a regulated roll out to me.

Dixon/Receptional (or other mods), your contacts have any comments on test vs. rollout?

With the exception of indented listings on beta & no indents displayed on msn, I'm seeing identical results on msn.com and beta.search.msn.com.

Cool, wonder if it's just a test. It's sticking here. First reported here on the 1st of December, hmm...

Still sticking in Atlanta, GA. I wasn't seeing this when this thread began.

I also noticed a new significant shift on 1 term I was playing around with optimizing on beta. There have been ongoing subtle shifts in the past week or so, but this was a wallup.

beta is also showing inktomi results for me as well. bound to be a sign of changes to come.

ditto here now for serps, not for the face though. This serp change is quite in contrast to seeing beta serps at beta.search and ink serps on search.msn.com this a.m.

The beta results have regressed to what they were before the shift I mentioned above. MSN is still showing those beta results that shifted.

In Firefox, I get the old MSN graphics and the beta shifted results. In IE, I get the new beta graphics with the beta shifted results.

skipfactor, where are you located? the serps seem to vary depending on where we are.

we are still seeing Ink. results in msn.com in central canada.

When did they take out the "help us improve our results" links? Do they no longer want our help? Smells of something brewing here in the UK ...

webhound, I'm about an hour north of Atlanta. Firefox msn.com searches are now back to Yahooink. An IE msn.com search is still showing beta graphics/design/results.

curious... why would someone in Atlanta looking at MSN.com be seeing different things than someone in Canada looking at the same site?

Are we looking at them rolling this out now and it just taking some time to replicate between data centers as with G?

Man I hope this is for real...

MSN Search and MSN Beta showing same old Yahoo/ Inktomi results now...

The beta search appears very similar to Yahoo serps. Are they redirecting the beta to the regular msn/yahoo serps, or is the algorithm just very similar to that of Yahoo?

internetheaven:

May have been my fault i might have gave them enough problems to last a few days :)

Example:
Do you notice when you click next for more results it says Page 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 and so on...

(it says 1 twice) Only after you click next.

I've been seeing the beta on msn.com all day, but was puzzled why it said ""search (beta)" under the MSN logo.

Also, if msn.com was showing beta results to joe public, where are all my new found visitors I should be getting.

So, as an experiment, I deleted all cookies on my PC and searched again on msn.com

Now I get the old msn.com without the beta results.

It looks to me as though something along the lines of the following is happening. If you have used the beta version of msn previously, then msn.com is redirecting to a version showing beta SERPS, otherwise you get old pre beta SERPS. Or something along these lines.

It's very strage but would account for why I do not see the visitors I should if joe public was also seeing the beta results.

Can anyone else who is seeing beta on msn.com try deleting their cookies and see if they get the same result.

For me, msn.com is still Inktomi..........
I searched in the beta, then went to msn.com after that.

I am afraid of the beta, for my terms, is awful, only showing same site for 15 of 20, they can´t launch like that.......... not because of me, but no way 1 company can show 20 diferents domain for top position..... and I am very bad, and I am still doing well in msn.com so..........

Have a look at this:

Thanks again for the words of encouragement. As you would expect we are not ready to make any commitments to specific timelines. There are a number of things that we need to improve and get right before we can move to our own algorithmic results.
Webhound and others – kind of curious what you mean by MSN Beta being better than our current live in spammy categories – are we showing more spam than on the beta or less? :)

Yea, deleting the cookie "user@search.msn.com" takes away the beta results showing on msn.com searches. Doing subsequent searches at beta.search.msn.com did not write a new one.

Skipfactor, that's what I've found.

beta on msn.com all day, delete cookies, pre beta shows on msn.com.

Searched on beta then on msn.com, still pre beta showing.

So, it appears it isn;t being rolled out live.

Shame, but it must mean they are doing something that brings it closer.

Chances are people are confusing the messenger beta preview with search preview?

It was definatly msn.com that was showing beta until the cookie was removed, then reverted back to pre beta.

There just doing a random sampling and trying to get some feedback. When the new msn appeared today in front of me, it also included a pop up window stating that I had been chosen to view their new look and asked if I would fill out a survey. There was also a link on the new msn homepage asking for feedback. They may do this for a few weeks so that they can tweek their look before rolling out the new version.
