What keywords are garnering the highest cost per click?

Is there a tool that simply reports by cost per click, not by industry?

I am doing some research for a project I am working on regarding the cost of keyword terms on Google and Yahoo.

Most of the tools I am familiar with will let you type in a certain term, and will tell you what the CPC that term is selling for that day. I'm looking at it from the other perspective. How do I find out what terms are selling for over $X per click?

Is there a tool for that?

Please advise...

I know about that one. But how would one find terms and keywords that generate similar cpc's?

I don't think there's a way to do that. Only Google and Overture would have that information, and I can't imagine they would make that information public, for competitive reasons.

There's no benefit to their advertisers so I don't see either of them doing something like that. But if someone knows of a tool like that, I'd sure be happy to be wrong. ;)

clickzguy, I'll bet you want that data for one of the following reasons:

1)an article you're writing
2)an investment thesis
3)a company you're looking to start, or a new project therein

I've already tried to track it down myself, and no one has it except Google & Overture, and they would never give it out.

Google does support going at this the other way, exploring the cost for advertisting using certain keyword phrases. You can use the adwords keyword tool for this.

If you put in a high budget, Adwords will estimate how much a day's worth of advertising would cost you. If you compare these values for various phrases, you can see which ones generate the most $s.

This can help you optimize your keyword choices, which I think is legitimate, compared to just looking for all the high-paying phrases and building bogus sites around them.

the adwords traffic estimator is a pile of poop and way inaccurate.

Do not rely on this!
