Hey, guys

I am a new comer with very limited knowledge on key word suggestion tool......I found compared with Overture's suggestion tool and WordTrack, Google's Adwords don't provide # of search volume, or I didn't find it?

And for the # listed beside Overture & WordTrack keyword searched result, its scope refers to the all internet search volume, or just within their own search engines?

BTW, what's SEO & SERP stand for? (don't laugh at me)
:)

Thanks

SEO = search engine optimisation

SERP = search engine results page

:) half an answer, anyway.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld mzjj,

(don't laugh at me)

We don't do that here, we all start somewhere at some time. :)

I believe the numbers refer to the engines through which they can gather results and not to the whole internet.

mzjj - Welcome to the forums. Keep in mind that Overture's tool will be skewed by automated searches, and that WordTracker is distorted by demographics and small sample size.

Here are a couple of threads that discuss the merits of the various tools. One of the threads goes back a bit, but the information is excellent about how to interpret the data you see.

I also recommend additional site searches.

Hi mzjj -- welcome!

you can get the numbers from Google if you are an AdWords advertiser. Otherwise you can only get variations.

Since you are just starting out my advice would be to not focus so much on "how many" searchs for each keyword phrase but more towards the relevance of those terms to your content.

The tools are best used to look for patterns of popularity and relevance. This helps to prioritize content.

Your primary activity should be to get that first batch of keywords that "really" matches your content. The numbers help you focus on prioritizing.

Also, the more technical the subject area, the less reliable these tools will be.
