I have this new layout for a page. It has quite a bit of graphics on it.
I know that I should put keywords in the alt tags. I added as much as I could but ran out of ideas. The question is:
Should I add a keyword for each image / button on the page or only for the most important ones. I have small buttons that repeat on the page. maybe 10 / 15 times, dividers, transp gifs etc...
Should each image on this page must have a keyword or something (like a description) in the alt tag?
If so, can you tell me which software is very good for that?
Also, I have this image repeating many times on the page. OK I put keywords but also they must be related to that picture some how, or doesn't matter?
Thanks,
Cosmin

Fire up lynx/links/your favorite text browser. How does the site look? Does the page make sense? Do you think a non-graphical browser user could understand what's going on? How about a screen scraper for the blind, that reads text top to bottom?
I think you'll find the answer to your question by performing that exercise.
To add to what nancyb and bakedjake have said:
Each html tag is there for a purpose. And the alt tag is there to give the webmaster the possibility of telling visitors about an image, if they have images turned off.
Something like
<img src="/images/oak.jpg" alt="Oak tree">
