Hi All,

I'm a newbie so please excuse the following remarks and questions which I'm sure have been asked many times before!

I have a new website and one campaign which is currently paused with Google awaiting keyword(s) but I'm getting myself more and more confused and frustrated.

What with the "" the [] and the - (negative keywords) I have no idea what is the best thing to do to achieve top or close to the top position. Sure I know if I bid the highest I'm going to get to the top and also go out of business really quickly! Some people have told me to use loads of keywords and bid low (why?) some have said use only a few highly targeted keywords (why?). I have read some documents on this forum about keyword selection and the tools like overture, etc. but they seem to confuse me even more. I guess what I'm asking for here is is there an A-Z guide on keywords for the complete idiot out there?

Any construvtive, non-technical replies would be VERY welcome.

Thanks.

Just start small and learn the ropes. Try a few different adverts to see which ones work the best.

One of the main ways to keep your CTR above the required mark of 1% is to target your keywords using the [keyword word] type of searches.

Dazz,

Thanks for the reply. What do you mean when you say "target your keywords using the [keyword word] type of searches."?

Told you I was a newbie!
