Ok, did a search here and turned up nothing on hitbrain [hitbrain.com] which does look impressive but what are your thoughts?

It's free and seems fairly comprehensive, ie... provide stats on:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Top Keywords - Alphabetical
Top Keywords - Dollar Value

...and the sites that rank for those keywords/phrases.

I couldn't understand how it could help me.

Maybe as a publisher it could help me cherry pick keywords for adsense...

I'll have to look at it closer, later when I have more time...

Yes. I agree. It's one step forward than the Top 50 Keyword reports which Wordtracker has. But has limited use for members out here for comprehensive Keyword research :(

I think I'll be finding a use for it in terms of getting an idea of how many searches are conducted on x keyword and what sites are pulling in the greater share of that as well as going to those same sites and seeing how and what they're up to.

I would'a thought that for you PPC bidders that the "Top Keywords Dollar Value" might've been useful too - But I don't partake in such games so I don't know.

Ho humm, I'll do better next time ;¬)

It would be a lot more useful if it had an opportunity to choose a first letter.

Maybe we all need to go out and build Harry Potter sites. ;)

I once did find the site to be of some limited usefulness... I was targeting adjective widgets, and HitBrain was able to give me relative singular/plural search info on widget and widgets by themselves, which convinced me (by extrapolation) that adjective widget (singular) was probably worth going after.

It would be a lot more useful if it had an opportunity to choose a first letter.

It's a pretty clumsy interface, but if I understand your comment, the Jump menu on the alphabetical pages does let you navigate alphabetically. I had to remember to turn JavaScript on to use the site.
