"Wid Get" versus "Widget" optimizing. Both mean the same thing :(

Which one shall I target? I wanted both :/

I am targeting a keyword that can be split into two words and retain the same meaning. Considering they mean the same thing, that is "widget" versus "wid get", I would love to get them both. I don't want to risk getting blacklisted for duping however, so I figure it's probably safer to just target one or the other.

Some additional information is as follows:
1) "widgets" is searched more often than "wid gets"
2) If you drop the "wid", other related keyword combos will also fall into place. For instance, "blue gets" would be a fantastic keyword for me to target.

Any suggestions on which one I should target, or can you think of a way to target them both? The industry is competative enough already that I don't think I'd gain much benefit from building pages that used both types of spellings. I'm guessing that I will need to fully optimize each page for the desired keywords.
