I'm looking for keyword searches statistics, something like

[inventory.overture.com...]

I'm mainly interested in Google, but any information about different search engine will be highly appreciated.

They've been a quick, easy resource for some keyphrase ideas.

We use wordtracker.com. For full service, you need to buy a subscription but if you are just looking for specifics on a few keywords, their free trial version is great. They give stats for all of the major (and some minor) search engines and a few possible related keywords.

I'm guessing they just compile associations from query history.

Like if you type "widget" - they check all past queries with a word widget in it and show you the list.

blue widget, nice widget, horny widget, etc...

To take it one level deeper:

In the secondary list they might pick the associated keywords and try to determine how broad they are.

blue widget -> blue, the word blue was used in a large number of queries without the word widget - it's too broad.

widgetspecattribute widget -> widgetspecattribute, mostly used with a word widget in the same query - it's not broad; get associations for the word widgetspecattribute.

The same priciple can be applied to the index database to see the word associations in the indexed documents instead of queries.

What I don't like about Google's Adwords tool is that it doesn't show the number of searches that were done on the particular keyword/phrase.

Hi I've just been shown a document produced by an "internet marketing" company which details the count over 30 days in Google, Yahoo & MSN for a range of keywords/ key phrases and the number of websites containing this term. Where do you think they got this information?

It sounds like Wordtracker.com because of the use of “count”.

If you want to post or stickymail me data for say 2 or 3 keywords that you don't care about then I would be happy to try and determine where it is from.

If you are a Kanoodle advertiser, their "Keyword Metrics" tool can be very helpful in determining popular usage of a term.
