Who on earth would search for *Google* keyword

Here's a snapshot of world's most popular search terms as compiled by snap dot com:

Of all the above, how (and why, who) on earth would someone search for keywords such as google, yahoo, hotmail and yahoo? Isn't it just plain commonsense for people to just visit Google website instead of punching in g-o-o-g-l-e in a search box on some search engine?

Because the great unwashed don't know the difference between the Address Bar and the Search Field, and so type Google, Yahoo, or whatever in the most obvious (to them) spot, the Search Field.

Yea, I've got a friend who is older. He used to use the search engine to fine every site he went to. He didn't know about bookmarks, and putting in the http:// and .com threw him off. It was just easier to type a word into Google and let the search engine do the work.

I had a friend who worked for a certain very well known portal which was a default homepage for many users in the early days of the .com boom, when yahoo was king. It had a search box right near the top of the page.

I figured if they were dumb enough to type in 'hair loss symptoms' they were too dumb to use Nizoral*. They might drink it and sue me.
