How to read Wordtracker results?

By using the free trial of WT, and I see for example the following results:

Keyword=widget Count=4753 Competition= 5800000
Ratio=1225

And then I know that 'count' is related to only 1 search engine. So it should be considerable higher in the real world.
And obviosly the 'Competition' is the real final number of competitors.
So the ratio is far from beeing real.
How can I measure all af this, is it possible to measure?
Is the full WT subscription displaying different and more accurate results?
As you can guess, my friends, I'm a complete newbie trying to start my first project.
Any feedback regarding this issue will be greatly appeciated.

Best regards.

Counts the # of time's it's found in their DB of the last 300 meta searches over the last two months. I usually just take the 24H # and extrapolate from there.

You can also use overture's keyword suggestion tool to get an idea of traffic, although they always report much higher numbers (they include automated searches, is what #*$! says) at inventory.overture.com [inventory.overture.com]
