Can I Rank Well for "Widget Making Tools" and "Widget Making?"

Do long key-phrases affect the SERPs for short ones?

I've optimized my page for "Widget Making Tools" in my title, meta tags, text, anchor text, etc.

I'm ranking really well for "Widget Making Tools," on Google, Yahoo, and MSN. I rank in the to 10 on MSN and Yahoo for "Widget Making." But I'm nowhere to be seen on Google for just "Widget Making."

My Question:
Will I rank any better for "Wdiget Making" on Google if "Tools" is removed?

You might rank a little better, but why mess with a page that is ranking well for a phrase you want in the other engines? Can you make another page for "widget making" just for Google?

Mona,
Thanks for your response.

My widget making tools page is my home page.
Hadn't considered making a variant of it.
Thanks
