Boolean Keywords?

Are boolean symbols with keywords a good idea?

We've been experimenting with boolean type keywords. We're assuming that some searches include symbols like +, "and", and that some searchers are searching with quotes in their search. Examples:

We bid the standard,

[widgets]
"widgets"
widgets
[red widgets]
"red widgets"
red widgets

But we are also now bidding,

+widgets +red
+red +widgets
widgets and red
red and widgets
+widgets
[widgets and red]
[red and widgets]
""red widgets""

Can you use double quotes for phrase match and will that capture impressions from someone that searches using quotes?

For some terms we are getting traffic and none for others. Has anyone else tried this? And to what degree of success? Are we just shifting traffic from broad match keyword phrases to our boolean strategy?

Also, how is it possible to get broad match traffic from a one word keyword like widgets? Is it possible that Google includes boolean searches into broad match for one word keywords?

Hey, Jmez. If you post your question over in the Google Adwords forum, you'll have more luck getting responses. Sorry I can't answer your question.
