what percentage of the searches that wordddtracker or overture indicates do you believe are actually from your peers (competitors, other webmasters, affiliate marketers, etc.)?

for some keywords i am convinced that its as high as 50% ... people checking where they rank etc. because the actual traffic to well-ranked sites for some of these keywords doesn't seem to be indicating that the keywords are as popular as indicated

I'm not exactly sure what the percentage is, but I agree with your point. I have observed this phenomenon on several keywords I bid on.
