What is the Most Expensive Keyword?

I'm having a discussion with someone in my office about how expensive PPC can be. She doesn't believe anything I say. Can anyone give me an example of the most expensive keywords in terms of the actual cost-per-click for the number 1 position on either Google or Overture? Thanks.

I'd never really thought about this before, but I just went and tried a few terms related to web hosting in AdWords and found that they're running about eight or nine dollars per click. I expect other terms are running much higher. I've heard rumors of fifty dollars per click for some terms, but haven't verified it.

$100 is the most expensive with 4 advertisers bidding at $100. this is what i have found anyway.

Found a couple of £21+ terms on Overture UK so that's like $38 a click

Most of the keywords hovering around $100 are for Personal Injury lawyers or lawsuits. For example the term mesothelioma - a type of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos is fetching $100/click at Overture right now.

Actually you're off by almost half:

#1 - (Advertiser's Max Bid: $175.00)

#2 - (Advertiser's Max Bid: $150.00)

Can you imagine! 231,000 searches in October X 10% clicks x $175.00/click = about $4Million I'm sure they are on a budget and stop at some point, but still!

Actually you're off by almost half:

I realize this now, but when I posted this message the cap on bids at Overture was still $100. They have recently raised the caps on bids to $999.99.

While this is good for Overture it upsets me to know that the Laywers CPA is so high :(

Who would have thought manipulating the American justice system could be so lucrative....(insert sarcasm here)

Something to remember that even though those high priced keywords carry a high price tag, they are sometimes hardly searched. I have been involved in the keyword areas where the max clicks on average are roughly $7 to $19 dollars respectably and can spend easily in the deep thousands a day.

So that to me is more impressive, quantity of clicks at a respected dollar rate over high priced is more dangerous in the end.

Is that possible i keep click on the google ad that can cause the company lossing money.

I know google have some prevent about it, but i think there is hack allow you to do so anyway.

Assume a company desposite 1 million on the account, how long it take to dain away that money

Google and Overture are big enough that I am personally not willing to try and make them lose money on their keywords...

chhchung - Don't do it, you can be caught and sued.

Secondly the webmaster where the ad shows might get penalised or kicked out of the program - you would be hurting the wrong person.

Also, you can help ruin an industry that many people here rely on to make a living. Please don't do it.

You can get the pricing from overture. Here is an Overture Keyword Tool [sonnarinternet.com]where you can see the number of times it was searched for and the pricing on one page.
